MSS Smoking Room - Stay Away

Back from 36 Hours in Vegas. Booked a room at MSS, got a King Bed, in a Smoking Room.
I dont smoke but not really bothered by it (unless you're that jack hole blowing it in my face).

HOWEVER - the MSS Room, while spacious, had the lives of a million cigarettes lingering in the walls, carpet, bed and pillows. It was awful. I woke up with a massive headache from the pillow.

Ive stayed in smoking rooms in the past but this was by far the worst.

I once stayed in a smoking room at Casino Windsor (only room available) and it reeked with cigarette smoke.It was horrible.

I once visited a friend (who is not a smoker -- neither am I) who was staying in one of the "Vintage" hotel rooms in El Cortez which were right above the casino (you just walked up a flight of stairs that were not far from the Craps tables there to get to these rooms) and the smoke smell in the room was truly terrible! I really couldn't be in there for more than a few minutes. I just could not take it -- it was so bad! I was getting a real headache from being in there even for a very short while!

We've been put in at MSS when they had no NS rooms available. We've requested they bring up an ionizer, and it's amazing how well it works. From terrible smells to not bad at all in an hour or so!

I am a non-smoker that has trouble sleeping in a smoky environment. However, only once did I get stuck in a smoking room at MSS. It was no different than a non-smoking room. They must have used the ionizer.

Hotels are now posting a notice of financial penalty if there is evidence of smoking in a non-smoking room.

So, if you get stuck in what is supposed to be a non-smoking room but it reeks of cig smoke, report it right away. If for some reason they can't relocate you to another room, give the ionizing treatment a chance. It works, or at least it worked well for us in a similar situation.
