MSS vs. The Cal...your thoughts!

Another post touched briefly on this subject but since I have an either/or offer for MSS/Cal for August
(and Stations is screwing up my August offers), I figured I'd get the low down.

I have stayed at MSS before but never the Cal. Mss has been alright except for the walk back at night.

Needs some pros/cons...if you dont mind!!
We've never stayed at the Cal but, on every trip, stay at least a couple of nights at MSS. I think the rooms are similar (basic). We just love MSS because of the staff. They have always been so friendly and helpful. The casino is lively but not overcrowded so we've never had an issue finding a machine or table (except the Treasure Chest VP machines). The food at 777 is good and the buffet is as well. Another thing we like is getting the beer from the brewpub comped while playing. We haven't found any beer that beats a Black Chip porter!
If the walk is the issue with MSS just enter through the Cal and use the skybridge that connects the Cal to MSS. I'd say it is less than a block further than the Cal.
Completely agree with XAN51090, nothing goes down as smoothly as the Black Chip Porter! But while you're there, why not try all the brews? We'd sure appreciate a review for each! Have a great time and score some Royals!

After a number of years staying at MSS, we tried the Cal a few times and it was fine. Rooms are similar and we enjoyed the casino.
We decided to go back to MSS because of the fridge in the higher floors, food options slightly better, and the scratch off cards add about $30 per day.
Goodfeedback! Hopefully some more insight into the rooms, ease of check in (or
lakck of), hidden fees on the comp rooms....etc!
Ease of check-in?? Thank god this isn't the strip. We've stayed at the Cal a couple of times and at least 15 times at MSS. I have never stood in line behind more than one person in all that time. Rooms at MSS are slightly nicer, but the Cal rooms are quiter. (North Side of MSS has quite a bit of freeway noise.) Parking at MSS is the best in all of LV (self park garage just outside north door.) Rooms on south side of MSS are less noisy, though you will occasionally hear train noise. Don't expect the ritz and you will have a great time.

Easy also, but you'll need a card on your windshield to get in and out of the garage, - MSS has no one at the garage entrances. Valet is fine at MSS, but I have no idea about the Cal's valet.
