My review of Jay Bolan GREAT and the D SUCKS

I am arriving to the room after the most degenerate gambling I ever did and way past my bed time but I did feel I have to post :D.

LVA I have to say thanks for the free tickets for Jay Bolan he was magnificent. Not many people and he took requests very, very talented. I probably wouldn't have gone but with the free ticket offer and when I started to look the reviews were good. He is very knowledgeable music wise and interacted a lot with the crowd so I am sure each show is different. If you enjoy the music of the 60-80's go see him. I am afraid with the low attendance he won't be around long. I would pay to see him I enjoyed him so much. A nice end to a crud day If your are thinking about DT you need to go the the 4 Q's and see him .

The D I wanted to like this place but I actually preferred Fitzgeralds. Yes the room is updated and the carpets clean. But ....... The music is so loud when I woke up and went down to the casino in the early am you couldn't talk you had to yell at the dealers and the pit boss. The music also was F this and F that NOT my cup of tea. They did turn it down after probably 9 am . Most of the folks I talked to felt the same way. They need to re think their clientele most the folks I saw were over 40 in fact over 50. If they want those folks to come back they need to change the volume and the lyrics. I have given this place 2 chances and even though it is free I probably won't be back. In fact with my play I probably won't be comped again. We did have fun on the Sigma Derby.

Other negatives in the am they had only 1 cocktail waitress for the ENTIRE casino who was to busy chatting with the dealers to wait on folks , I waited an hour for her to ask me what I wanted and then another good bit for coffee. They don't have any moisturizer in the rooms ( I know guys for you not a big deal), they also won't comp Kahlua , and the crap they serve in its place is nauseating.

If this is to jumbled just to put it down to way to much gambling and booze . I sure hope to gamble less and win bigger tomorrow
Negatives from our first two visits---musis off the scale for noise---drink service very poor---bright side a very nice Long Bar but very empty. Improvements are good but need to pay some attention to customer comments. Had talked to quite a few other customers (yelled) they alos agreed music has to go.
Will be there for the grand opening on Oct 12th. Hopefully we get some kind of survey to fill out when we leave. When there in March the music was pretty loud and the Long Bar was bringing in a young, funky crowd.

This is one of the places I usually stay, but may have to start serenading a new casino for some cheap rooms.
I agree the rooms are nice being reno'd, I don't mind the 2 floor as I play live keno...waitesses can be slow in the AM. Downstairs....holy..I'm 38 and it's too loud! Maybe in the evening but first thing in the am... I want sit at the long bar, drink baileys & coffee and enjoy myself. Last trip I walked over to El Cortez...played in the am. I'm sure I'll be comped there.

What El Cortez wants now for comped rooms (at least according to current information that I have) is 2,000 points earned (it appears to be on the same trip -- but check to be sure) per weeknight night (up to 3 nights) and 3,000 points per night for Weekends and Holidays (up to 3 nights). This does not include point multipliers.
