now i'm scared....fitz rooms????

i've heard so much bad opinions on the rooms at fitzgeralds that i'm honestly afraid of what my first night in vegas holds.....we decided to stay one night downtown and because it's march madness and spring break in vegas, hotels are fairly scarce or too expensive. has anybody had a GOOD experience staying at fitzgeralds? is there a particular room/view/floor i should request? thanks for the help!
I really like the Fitz. If you are not a Wynn or Bellagio person, it's just fine.
We find the Fitz to be fine. Holiday Inn type rooms. Our room has never been dirty. In fact, we will be there for two nights in a couple of weeks.
I will keep staying there, never a reason to not want too.

be afraid, be very, very afraid
As others have already said - it's perfectly fine if you just want a place to sleep, shower, & relieve yourself. It's not the Ritz, and it might not be the Holiday Inn, but it's well above Motel 6 or Super 8. Some of the furnishings are old - so what? Some carpeting around the elevators in the casino needs to be replaced. Location is great - never a line for valet, and self parking is easy (though the ramp is very steep). if you come to Vegas for luxury, this is not the place. If you want to not be ripped off and have a much better chance of winning at the tables or machines, downtown is the place to be.

Ditto the above - I've stayed there many times. It's a great central location - Yes, the rooms are dated, perhaps shabby to some (but always clean in my experience), it's not the Golden Nugget, and it's not a place where you'd want to hang out by the pool. But, if you are looking for a friendly place to stay, good service, decent rates and fair value for your play - with good comps for a low-roller (room discounts, free play and food) it's all to the good. I've never stayed at Fremont or 4 Queens, so can't compare. It's usally Golden Nugget or Fitzgeralds for me - depending on rates and budget. Wherever you stay, good luck!
Take Nonsence's advice and avoid it, That will ensure me a better chance at getting a reservation there.
If you plan to hang out in your room all day and night, don't stay there. If you actually go to a vacation city to enjoy the city, its fine.
If your standards are low, then you won't be disappointed. Just aim low.
