Permanent Zip line on Fremont street

So, I get to Fremont Street last week for my 5 night stay at the Nugget and the 1st thing I notice is this huge structure being built right in the middle of Fremont street between the Golden Gate and the Las Vegas club. The I beams being used would make you think they were building another casino there!
Upon further investigation, I found it was going to be the new permanent end of the zip line. If you are paying for a view down Fremont Street in the Plaza casino in an upcoming stay you might want to reconsider!
At the other end of Fremont Street (El Cortez end) and even taller structure is being erected. This damned thing is like 6 stories tall and is all stairs. I am 50+ years old and do not see myself walking up those stairs (I hope they put in an elevator!)
The safety curtain/ barricade going around the two work sites shows the architectural rendition of what it will one day look like. I wish I was more tech savvy as I would insert a picture of it here, hopefully someone else will.
Anyway, the information on the barricade says the whole permanent zip line will cost $11.3 million dollars and will be ready in the summer of 2013. The end of the ride is being billed as the worlds largest slot machine so it looks like the end of the ride will end in the middle of the slot machine (where the coin dropper is)...remember this is huge.
It also says you will take off from two different levels and will reach speeds of 35 miles an hour. The very highest take off point says you will take off basically like superman (head first!)..........sounds cool as hell!
Like I said, hopefully someone will take pictures and post them for us.

I think I saw pictures on VegasChatter. It looks amazing! A huge slotmachine!
Supposedly, from what I'm understanding, that "Giant Slot Machine" is supposed to "shoot" Zipliners out of it to get them going on their trip.

Interesting. I did the current zipline in April. It was fun but not very high or long. Between this one and the new one going up at Rio I'll probably try them both depending on cost and length of wait time.

The new zipline on Fremont is 120 feet tall, with riders launching out of the top from 112 feet and ziplining all the way to the far end of the canopy, and others zipping from the middle of the structure to the midway point outside of the Four Queens and Fremont casinos.

The Slotzilla end should have all of its facade up by the end of this month, last I heard. The old zip line will be dismantled in the next couple weeks to allow for the completion of Slotzilla, which is expected to take about a month for the line installs and government approvals. As of a couple weeks ago, it was expected to be up and running by the end of July (barring any complications). I'll try to remember a camera tomorrow and post a few pics of where it's at in terms of construction.
Oh, and Weggie - yes, they will be putting in an elevator. I think they're actually putting two in, at the back of the structure. The structure is supposed to be fully ADA compliant.

Their putting in an elevator!!! sweet................Did they happen to raise the weight limit or do I need to hit the treadmill before the next trip to vegas???
