Pick 1... if you will

You're spending time playing along the FSE and decide to pop in one of those silly "slots only" spots for some free beads and a stiff drink.

If you had to chose one, would you go play at La Bayou or Mermaids?

marko..
Mermaids has better junk food otherwise they are largely the same thing. Your stiff drink will be mixed with the cheapest well liquor sold at DollarTree.
I have walked in and walked out of each maybe a half a dozen times, one quick lap and I see no reason to stay. they look the same to me.
Although I don't drink at all, I seem to remember reading a thread here that (I think it was at La Bayou) said that they offered an additional shot and this caused some of the takers here to be knocked out for the rest of the night. Although this thread that I'm mentioning may have had to do with the Yard long drinks.

Unfortunately I don't remember which thread it was or who started it up or who responded to it. Now (on 3/20/16), see below for an update!

Keep in mind that the Search function here still does work when you check things by Author.

I do think that both of those places do also have some Video Poker but I seem to remember seeing that the paytables there were quite terrible (but maybe they were still better than the returns on the Slot Machines).

In order to check returns, you could write stuff down and then go online to the Wizard Of Odds website where in the Video Poker section, you can get to a game analyzer where you can see the game's return.

When I checked out the video poker at both La Bayou and Mermaids, all paytables were under 96%.
I, too, remember that thread about getting schnockered at La Bayou. Wifey and I always end up in Mermaids for a while, because, for some odd reason, she loves it.

It's possible that even that terrible return rate for VP may still be higher than the return rate that you can get by playing the Slot Machines there.

I have now tracked down that thread. It's called "LaBayou/Mermaids" and is in this "Downtown - Hotels, Attractions - everything" message board. It's currently found in the 12th entry on Pg. 3 of this board and the original poster was kirbyk48.

I was somehow unable to get the link that I had for this to work. Maybe someone else can get it to link.

Thanks! When I tried posting the link, I got an error message saying that there was something like some other factors that were needed in order to post the link.

But that thread (I think) is just what marko62 is looking for.
