Plaza 2 nights/Paris 2 nights Oct TR

Oct 3-7th
For our fall trip this year we wanted to try something a bit different. It seems as if we never really get a chance to visit downtown as we'd like, so with the reopening of the Plaza we thought we'd give it a try.

Rented a car through Fox. Just wanted to add that I will never ever again rent from them. First I did not know that you have to be shuttled from the shuttle to Fox. Waited over an hour in line, and if I had to listen to the annoying manager tell everyone her life story for the fourth timeI was going to come unglued. I just want a car. Then of course why it was taking so long was because the sales people were trying to sell you EVERYTHING they could. Since we weren't biting, we got the ugliest bright neon yellow car they had. Don't care. We spent $7 in gas and everywhere we went, we could always figure out where we parked!
I like a deal but my time is worth more. Lesson well taken.

We called the Plaza back in the first of Sept, spoke to someone in marketing, told them briefly about our play, which is normally with Caesar's Properties (and some local places) they offered us a mini suite for $60 a night (2 nights) and we were going to go from there. Maybe we will end up paying or not

Check in easy, everyone SUPER friendly. We believe we were the first to stay in this room. Attached are some photos we took. Room (in the South Tower) was big, view was great. Something wasn't right with the fridge. It wasn't in the bar area (I looked and there was no outlet to plug it in) Thought that was rather interesting. I don't think anyone checked out this room as being okay to stay in.

My gambling at the Plaza was the big Loser! However, my husband was dealt 4 aces with a kicker on 50 cent that night so his gambling was good. Tables started at $5, played some blackjack, dealers friendly. Bartenders friendly and I never had an empty glass. Could be why gambling was so bad. I didn't get a bad vibe from the casino, I was catching a cold and boy did it get awful while we were there. Only thing I stuffed in my purse was kleenex!

I already had a card, but Harry did not have one, he went over to sign up and do the new player's promotion. After we played a few hours, we went to the players club and the employees kept trying to give us dinner. We did however take up the offer for breakfast the next day (we were interested in heading down to Binions and possibly eating there) While talking to the girl at the player's club, she wanted to introduce us to a host. Nathan came out looked at our play, and comped both nights and asked us to a NYE party. Cool. We'd see how it went

Headed up to Binions, played about a half hour, had dinner in the deli and found out we had enough points to pay. I love this about downtown. Back to the Plaza, played some more and off to bed.

Up Tues morning, found out no hot water in the shower. NOt good. Did get moved to the North Tower overlooking Freemont STreet. Down to Breakfast at Hash House. Great food but too much. Went over to Las Vegas Club, used some of Harry's free play and I turned $60 into $240. That was needed. Headed up to Freemont, Binions and finally settled into Fitzgeralds. I went upstairs to the bar, held my own and then finally hit four aces with a kicker on quarters. Good hit and my only hit of four days. Harry however kept hitting 4oaK's over and over. Glad someone was. I might need to hit up my personal banker!

Back to Plaza to rest, go to the Player's club and they give us a $60 comp slip to the Tinoco's at the Las Vegas Club for dinner. Harry gets the rest of his free play loaded and we end up getting $280 total in free play. We both broke even at the Plaza playing the rest of the free play.

Dinner was good and then we walk over to Main Street Station and the California. We've never been to either but had fun exploring. Back to Plaza and I should have went to bed! Instead I proceed to lose anything I have won. I finally break down to go get more cold medicine, nose spray and hand sanitizer.
I was a mess. Oh well, I was giving it my best shot, unfortunately I was the target. At least I had enough sense to finally go to bed.

Wed up early and got a couple of sunrise photos. Ahh, a new day and hopefully a lucky one. Breakfast at DuPars at Golden Gate. I had a $15 coupon for food. Brk cost us under $5 and was excellent.

Moved up to Paris today. Stopped at Palace STation. I could stay here with their full pay ddb vp. Loved it. Actually hit a couple of 4oaks and just enjoyed ourselves.

Went over to Paris, check in at the Diamond Registration a snap and in our LeMans room asap. The only issue was the Paris was a zoo. This is why we did really like the Plaza, no mob of a crowd.
We went down and played and I just donated, donated and donated some more. This sucks. Harry had a couple of hits and then proceeded to drop it in some crazy slot machine.

Headed over to the Bellagio to visit his brother who was also in town. I wanted to see the new rooms, however I did not know we were heading to the top floor. OMG! What a room. Wish I would have brought my camera!!!Ceiling to floor windows overlooking the fountains. I could have sat up there all night and watched the fountains and listened to the music that was piped in on the TV. Fully top shelf stocked bar kept the boys busy while I drank coke. (This cold is a killer) We eventually head downstairs and gamble but my bankroll at the Bellagio just doesn't last. We make dinner plans for Thurs night which is my husband's birthday. Back out in the rain and over to the Paris. Yes, that's right it rained for 2 of the days and was cold.

Thurs we drove over to Margaritaville at the Flamingo since we were going to travel around for the afternoon. Margaritaville is a cool casino with a good party vibe even at 10am. I hit a 4oaK on vp but gave it back. Headed up to Orleans but decided to stop at Gold Coast. I won just enough to keep me playing and we both gathered enough points that it payed for lunch at the buffet. Nothing spectacular but it was decent.

Back to Paris for a much needed nap. Walked back to the Bellagio that night where we had dinner reservations at Prime. Overall impression, good but not great. Prices were out of control. We had four waiters for our table of 3. BIL had it comped off (thank goodness!) He wanted to treat his brother for his birthday, but this was just a little too fancy for us. Plus it wasn't that great. Overall the dining experience took over 2 1/2 hours. However the Company was great and the three of us had some really good laughs.

We run back to Bally's, through the cold rain and head over to the vp area. Well most of my bankroll once again has been left at the Bellagio, I go over to see if first national bank of Harry is open (i don't want to go to the room---i should have) he gives me his last bill, I go split it up and bring him back half. I sit down next to him and the next deal he is dealt four aces, we both stop and ask for the deuce, well up pops a four, that'll work!!! And he is playing dollars! woohoo. Unbelievable. We bounce around for another couple of hours and together we go play Hangover. Harry hits Allen's progressive bonus for $900. What a night. He finally decides he needs to go put some money away and we go back to the Paris. I finally stumble off to bed and Harry stays out longer. It's his birthday!

Slept in @10am, pack up, check out, zero bill, head to the M. WE have to use our 2 free buffet coupons and I need my souvenirs. Lunch is good, drop some play, win zilch. Head down to Southpoint. We in the past have had some decent luck but none today so we head to the airport early. Better to sit in the airport and wait rather than keep dumping money in. Plus we are not too sure about this rental car and the how long this shuttle process is going to be.

Uneventful flight on Southwest and only 60 people on the plane. That must be it, come home on a Friday night and you can have a row to yourself.

Overall, it was still a fun trip. Harry broke even, I gave it my all and Las Vegas took all! We really did enjoy downtown more than the Strip. The crowds on the Strip are just unbelievable at times. Love the Paris, but it is jammed. The Plaza has some kinks to still work out but it was fun. We finally decided we are going to go back out for our first NewYear's Eve trip. I have been wanting to go for years, can never get the time off, or ticket prices are way too high. We were invited to a couple of different parties yet we decided on the Plaza. We'll see how it goes.

Attached are some pictures we took down at the Plaza. I had a heck of a time getting them attached so I hope you can pull them up! Thanks for reading!

Nice report. Too bad about the cold and the cold rain. I'm with you about the strip.... I think this is my last stay on the strip and I hope to spend a lot of my time downtown.
Nice report. Glad to hear the Plaza is looking better. To bad about your cold--nice thing is that their is always a Walgreens close in Vegas. Our allergies always act up their. We love downtown also--just wish they had a few more show/activities outside gambling to do. Hope your feeling better.
Thanks for the well wishes. That nasty cold took another week to clear up once we got home. Great way to go to work after two weeks off. Husband didn't catch it till we got home! At least he was free from that while in LV. First time I have ever been sick while in Vegas. Many times completely worn out when I came home but never sick during. It was a bummer. But it was still Vegas and it was vacation.

Great report, thanks. Good to hear about the Plaza vibe, and sorry about the cold and rain. Sounds like you made the best of it, and had some good times anyway.
Thanks for the report and sorry to read about all of your losing!

I have been to LV when it rained and when I've gotten sick there and I can definitely say that it's no fun!

I did not make it out to the Strip at all this trip (I was only going to go there to chase after some promotions) and I really love all the good gaming and the easy walk between the casinos there!

And I wish you all the best with your potential NYE trip!

I did get invited years ago to Las Vegas Club for NYE, but it's not a good time of year for me to be away from home!

Sounds as if the plaza is really taking the player development thing for real. This bodes well both for valuable players and low roller such as myself. I'll be clowning in quarters downtown soon. Thanks for the report and good luck next month!
While I was there (but I don't know how long the promotion will be going on), Plaza was also offering a daily Slot Tournament with stuff going to the top 10 scorers of the day (this is determined after 8PM). I think the tournament runs between 12PM and 8PM and you can qualify for it once a day by earning 50 points and then going to the Slot Club booth to qualify for it).

And so I think that they are doing things to attract players.

They also accepted my American Casino Guide coupons for $5 in Freeplay and $10 Matchplay coupon (which I used for Blackjack).
