Plaza Hotel (North Tower)

Have been going to Vegas 3 times a year since 1999 and had never stayed at the Plaza. Evidently the south tower is pretty nice, but don't let them give you a room in the north. No vending in the north; have to go down the elevator and across casino to south tower.  Elevator felt "iffy."  Internet did not work at all. We were so disappointed that we didn't even gamble there. Walked down to 4Queens and played for hours. Ate at Magnolia's Veranda; had a great meal (even greater with the LVA coupon).

Our first stay at the Plaza was definitely the last.

Wow. Sorry you had a poor experience.

I go to Vegas twice a year and stay at the Plaza part of every trip.

I always request a LUXE room in the North tower.  They are very nice and recently renovated.

I did have trouble with my wifi reception last trip for the very first time ever but a quick room change solved that issue.  I always make a point of stopping in their gift shop and buying a few drinks to put in my fridge so I never have to search for vending machines.
The Plaza is my favourite downtown hotel.

Thanks for that info Terry.   The trouble with the "just stay in the South tower" solution is that there is no assurance that they will agree to put you in that tower.

Receive monthly room offers with around $125 FSP and offer of a suite.   Each time I've tried to book, there's no suites available (almost always attempting to book midweek and with at least 30 days notice too!).

At checkin, I have yet to have a room ready before 4p.  Last trip after waiting until 6p I just gave up and took the room that was available.  A basic, grungy non-renovated room.  I've also experienced poor wifi in their rooms.

Booking a room is a PIA because you have to go through VIP services and that means only when they feel like answering the phone.   I refuse to play phone tag these days, so either they answer when I call or I'm calling someplace else.

With all the money they've been paying these social media shills to pimp their property, you'd think they'd actually pay attention to comped players.

Definitely do NOT recommend Plaza.

I always book my room by communicating with a host by email.

Easy, stress free way to book.

No matter what kind of offer you get, at whatever property, there will be a skeleton crew doing those things that make your stay tolerable, like, well, having your room ready before midnight. The casinos have figured out that they can offer utter crap service--as in complete, utter, total, thoroughly, shamefully, disgustingly crappy service--and the lemmings will still come pouring in, waving fistfuls of money. It ain't just the Plaza. It's EVERYWHERE.

So why be a lemming?

FUCK VEGAS!!!*

Unfortunately the mailed offers dont include that info.

It's a QR code that goes to a booking page which seems to be unmonitored.  Tried it twice, two different times and I've yet to receive a reply.   The casino services phone number gets answered about half the time.

I always stay at the plaza, never had an issue getting the tower I want.  I showed up at 10:30am last trip and the front desk lady said if there are rooms available there would be an early checkin fee.  I smiled, chatted nicely, put out a $20 and said if you can find me a room, here's a tip for you.  She found a nice room and waived the early check in fee.  The whole trip ended up free as I used the 3 free days flier code and the host waived the other days and the resort fees and I also had free dinner at Oscars every night.  I am not a high limit player, just .25 VP, average $20 BJ and Pai Gow.  The only thing is I play there almost exclusively with my friends.  I also booked a win for the trip, so it was a very positive experience all around.

Great place, can't wait to go back!

I booked and stayed the Plaza back in March for my first stay there based purely on price.

I was there for nearly two weeks (love Downtown).

At check in the clerk said I had booked for the "old" tower (apparently the "cheaper" tower?) which I took to be the north tower so she changed me to the south tower unbidden and untipped.  Nothing mentioned about refurbed rooms in either tower - so no idea about them.  My room didn't appear to be refurbed but neither did it need it.

The room was great and not just because of the price.  It would be even better if they had an optional resort fee - a resort the Plaza is not (like many others with the nefarious charge) - I only use the room and gaming floor and, of course, the pool wasn't open anyway.  I'm not a pickle baller either 😉!

The property is over 50 years old and in my view is pretty OK - I certainly hadn't keep that well at age 50!

Rooms clean and functional, accommodation and floor staff the usual combination of friendly and helpful.  Hosts never seen!

On-site Hash place more than adequate, coffee bar good but not long hours.  Of course, the donut 🍩

place and carousel bar 🎠 have opened since I stayed but I can't see them affecting the accommodation.

I looked out for the GM on the floor - he always tells us that he's often there on the Plaza podcast - not seen -  maybe next time!

So I'll be happy to go back to the Plaza - and will.

ps - no early check in charge either, just turned up around noon and straight in.
