Plaza now taking reservations for Sept. 1

Sorry if this has already been posted, I haven't seen it.

The newly renovated Plaza hotel and Casino is now taking reservations for stays beginning in September.

Looks pretty nice from the description; I know that the Plaza/LV Club staff has been pretty enthusiastic about the renovation. The in-room safes will be a nice touch. There are supposed to be a lot of new restaurants, maybe 6 or 8. Rack rates are a little higher. Hopefully the comps will still be relatively easy. And of course, hopefully the casino won't have been unduly tightened.

I stayed at the 4 queens last week and I can tell you 1st hand that they have done nothing to the outside of the building. Infact it looked worse than ever!

When we were driving down main street towards the Plaza( from las Vegas BLVD) during the week, you could see many of the rooms had lights on well into the night, so I am sure there is lots going on inside.

The casino glass was all boarded up so you couldnt see in. I didnt get out of the car to try to sneek a peek or anything.

I stayed at the Plaza twice and have gambeled there many times and liked the place, so I hope they can fix the old girl up properly and not just stick some lipstick on a pig!
Was in the Plaza last week (Friday) and they could close up and not miss a beat. Granted this was around 9 am but there were not 5 people in the enitre place. Tricky entrance now and after that it is all down hill. As it stands now it is a step down from the Western.

I tried to book a room for Oct 21 from the plaza website and it sends me to the Vegas club site.

I don't want to stay at the vegas club...
They are having issues with the booking system I think.

I saw something about them working through some kinks, I'll try to find a link.

Okay, here is a quote from their Facebook page:

"Thanks for your patience! We are experiencing a few responsibility shifts and are working through!
Updates:
-The PZ rooms have been removed, as we are working on our site. We hope to get the site up by the end of the week.
-Super Bingo is STILL on track for August 26 - 28. There was fear that we *might* have had to change the date, but we're back on track. Invitations will be posted/sent out shortly."

I was playing around with their reservations. Looks like you can get mini-suites for about $100/night on weekdays. They also have bigger suites but they didn't list the price for those.

By the looks of the pictures the new rooms will probably be step below the Rush Tower at Golden Nugget...but a step above most of the other downtown properties.

Looks like they'll be a step above a lot of the Strip Properties to. By the way does the Plaza have a pool?

Yes, the Plaza does have a pool, although as far as I remember, it is not too deep.

The pool is on top of the 3rd floor roof, so obviously it's outside and is 5 ft. on one end and I believe 3ft. on the other, usually I see a net in the middle for volleyball etc. They also have tennis courts up their, hope this helps.
