Plaza now taking reservations for Sept. 1

I wonder if any of the sprucing up of the property made it to the pool area.
The debut of the new Union Plaza would seem to provide a great opportunity for a good MRO coupon for LVA subscribers.

How 'bout it, AC?
$35 million is a heck of a lot to spend for a make over when Vegas still has a pretty low occupancy percentage. But last I heard, the numbers are, well not exactly going up yet but are declining a little less. So maybe they finished just in time to take advantage of slightly better numbers then this time last year.

I dont think they had a choice. It was either remodel and hope to steal tennants from the neighboring properites or simply close shop. I would think the hotels that stand to be impacted the most by the new Plaza are MSS and El Cortez....The Plaza will now have rooms slightly better than these places and also boast a better location...all for about the same price.

I'm really gald to see this is actually happening - Downtown needs a new "higher-end" place, and so many other projects have stalled (like the Lady Luck rehab). Hopefully the remodle kept some of the old charm and did away with the seedy. Anyone know if FireFly is still there - or if not, is it coming back? That place was great and maybe another MRB could be added?
Just got a mailed offer from the Plaza--be one of the first to stay in a new room. It is a bingo tournament with a 3 night stay. It is for the last weekend of Aug.
I've been told that Firefly is gone, an that they're going to put in a lot of new restaurants, like maybe eight or so. Should be interesting.
