Plaza reopened today (with pics)

The Plaza reopened today...I stopped by there mid-day and took a few pics. Saw some 9/5 JOB and 7/5 Bonus poker by the entrance. Most of the VP machines on the floor were still out of service. A lot of machines on the south side didn't yet have chairs, and construction workers and slot techs were on the floor still installing things. Also took pics of the second floor, but it's now running late.

I stuck $10 into a .25 Wheel of Fortune machine, and got a "wheel spin" on the 4th spin, winning $25. Cashed out and went to lunch.

The front of the building has been cleaned up, the lights that run up the front fixed, and at least some has been repainted.

The lobby has been very nicely redone with the formerly Fontainebleu materials:

Hash House A Go-Go by the lobby:

A few pics of the casino area:

And finally, for Nesalk, as he was pretty jacked up about the sweet new escalators (Nesalk, perhaps you shouldn't look at these until after dark):

Thanks for the pictures...Will be nice to check it out in October. 39 sleeps
Thanks for the photos! The place is looking very nice!

I just hope that for our sakes that the gaming will not suffer with worse pay schedules and/or rules for the table games!

I was going to say that I hoped the 9/5 JOB and 7/5 BP are not the best they're going to have. If so, my trip there in a couple of weeks will be very cheap indeed - 3 nights at $35.99 and no gambling...

I did see that prefect mentioned the 9/5 Jacks and 7/5 Bonus but since not all machines are up and running yet, hopefully there will still be some scattered 9/6 Jacks and 8/5 Bonus Poker.

If not, I will continue playing at Las Vegas Club where they still have that stuff (at least they did in late June).

I will say in all fairness that there were very few VP machines up and running yet, plus I didn't have much time to really search around. Whole banks of machines were sitting unactivated on the south side of the property. My guess is they wanted to get as many slots up and running before moving to the less profitable VP machines. And of the few VP machines working, I only checked the paytables on a couple of them.
Thanks for the pics. Can't wait to see it the end of September.

Ok, fair enough, but I do have another question for you.

Plaza has unfortunately had a smell in the casino area. Did you previously notice that odor and is it still there?

Nope, no odd odor now, and yes, it was rather unavoidable previously...the accumulation of decades of sweat, grime, smoke, and spilled drinks. The odor in the air now is that of paint and new carpet. I noticed that right off that bat. A friend that I had met to do the walkthrough with commented on the same thing....that it smelled NEW.

I guess a year of being closed and having everything torn out really helped. Hopefully they upgraded the ventilation along with everything else to minimize that in the future. I don't know anyone in their organization to give me the inside info on that, though.
