Plaza reopened today (with pics)

CheeseHeadsForever your right as I went back yeasterday and it showed up. The sportsbook will not be open in time but most of the place is ready.
Just walked through again today. Island Sushi and Hash House A Go Go are now open, and I picked up menus for each. Didn't check any paytables, but they did let me walk though "Swinger's" lounge (it doesn't open until 5 tonight, and is in its' own room where the old Aqua Lounge was). There's an enclosed area called the "Haunted Hole" within the bar.....the old escalators are resurrected here....I'll leave it at that.

Fair amount of people in the casino, although I recognized a lot of the people walking around as casino execs from other downtown properties, as well as a Boyd VP.

How were the crowds at the tables/machines? (outside of the suits)

No crowds at tables - saw maybe 1 or 2 tables full, more with 2-3 people at them, and about half were empty. However, keep in mind that this was at lunchtime on a Thursday before a holiday weekend, so everybody is slow at that point. I might stop by Saturday night to see how they're doing - old friends came to town for the weekend, so my wife and I are playing tour guides anyway.

We stayed at the Union Plaza (I'm not sure when they dropped the "Union") in the summer of 1981. Searching for pictures. . .
I'd love to see some old pictures, Tommy. The one thing I'm going to miss with the renovation is the remnants of the '70's luxury.

By the way, I did find this picture on the Net, it's from when the top of the port cochere was the "martini glass shaped swimming pool," before the dome was built:
Now THAT is totally cool- I had no idea that area used to be a swimming pool. Learn something new every day, I guess. Thanks for the pic!
of three full pay JOB at 25c last weekend, 2 were out of commission late saturday. The craps tables there were busy, not, busy, not since the foot traffic running in and out is less than most freemont joints. I don't know squat about 21. I was once a comped player at plaza; I think i lost carte blanche for walking out with their money too often. The room was very nicely furnished. Really nicely furnished. Good Luck!

Yes, jmradford, I have been told by hosts that one of the factors that Plaza and Las Vegas Club use when deciding to send players offers is whether they have won or lost or possibly won more than lost.

Just got back from a week staying Dt, Aug31st- Sept.6th I was staying at the LVC so I had access to whatever the Plaza had to offer, I meandered in and out of the Plaza for a week and noticed mostly everything not open yet, Mcdonalds, Gigi's cupcakes, Zaba's, Oscar's and the new Haircut place not open. I was there on Grand Opening morning 6am, local news team reporting from there, but not much fanfare. The sportsbook took my bet for the evenings football game, but I was unable to watch it there because of the large big screen tv's being unplugged and on the floor all day, the small tvs behind the counter were on. The 5th floor workout area, pool, and tennis courts unopen, they were under const. even the concession stand was all ripped apart, const. debris everywhere. My take is that the rooms are done and thats about it. Hash House was open.
