Dad and I were at the Plaza 10/10 through 10/14
Dad is 87 and has some mobility issues. We ordered an electric scooter from Scootaround as we always do when in town. It was waiting for us at the Bell Desk and they even knew where to find it (unlike the TI and Mandalay Bay on other recent trips)
Check in was quick and easy. We got to the room and I discovered it did not have a handicap accessible bathroom so we went back to the desk. They were genuinely surprised it had a step in tub rather than a walk in shower. They quickly changed our room (same room, different floor) and it was all good.
Room was in great shape, on a pie wedge shape because it was on the corner between the middle section and the right side of the building (If you can imagine the building with a left, middle and right, you will understand what I mean). We had a view out the back looking at the railroad tracks which was fine with us. It was quiet and had a view of the mountains.
We didn't gamble at Plaza so I cannot share our thoughts. We played at Golden Gate where they took good care of us and Dad did well. We took advantage of the Binions and Four Queens football rebate promo. Ate well and won some money. Food and beer was much better at Four Queens.
We were very happy with the room and I think in the future we will use the plaza as our home base when we stay downtown.
I know Plaza has been panned in the past for the rooms facing the FSE but I think this is likely to be a thing of the past. The endcap for Slotzilla should block and buffer a lot of the sound as well as the bands on the stage on the other side of slotzilla faces the El Cortez end of the FSE so that will direct the sound that direction as well.
