Check-in used to be a nightmare, and it's no better now. We didn't stay there last trip, but when I walked over the line must have been 50 people long and hellaslow. Still, it's a cool old place and the renovation is very nice; sure would like to see them succeed.

Yes, there is a resort fee...but they also give you a coupon book with a matchplay and dining/drink discounts. So for a short stay the resort fee is a wash.

Since I have now returned from my most recent stay at Plaza, I can report on what's what over there.

So yes, if you are comped, the $10 Per Day Resort Fee is waived. So I got Free Local and 800 calls, Free Internet Wi-Fi (which I didn't use) and two Free bottles of water per day.

And the room deal also comes with a coupon book (which I think can be used at Plaza or Las Vegas Club Casinos) which includes a $5 Matchplay coupon for Blackjack, a separate $5 Matchplay coupon for Craps or Roulette and other coupons for discounts (such as one at their Coffee/Gelato place for different offers [such as buy one Scoop of Ice Cream/Gelato and get one Free] or other things if you buy a sandwich or something else).

Other coupons (which expire on 12/28/12) in this book are for:

Oh, and I also forgot to add in that Plaza also has a new promotion going on. It's called having a "Green Room" (you have to ask for this). This means that the room won't be cleaned (except maybe for getting new towels) and in exchange for that, the person who registers for the room gets $5 in Freeplay per day of your stay in the "Green Room."
