Plaza Rooms

How are the rooms at The Plaza? I have not stayed here and have a group of 24 coming out for a couple of days stay after 8 days up in Mesquite. Some of the guys are a bit older and do not like the loudness of some the "party" hotels like The D or Nugget.

I was there for a couple nights last year during March Madness. At check-in they asked if I minded a room facing FSE, and I said OK. I very much regretted that decision. Very loud until about 2 am.

As for the casino itself, it doesn't seem that loud to me.

I like the Plaza rooms - but I agree with the FSE view.   I stayed in one of their Junior Suites which arent that expensive.   Mine was under $100 but that was before COVID and the price increases.   I dont know what they cost now.

El Cortez tower rooms are as nice as any of the legacy properties downtown including Golden Nugget IMO.

No noise to worry about there.

We've stayed at Plaza every time we have gone post COVID-19--4-5 times.   Definitely ask for a South Tower room, facing south if possible.  We originally found the rooms "odd".  Rooms are large; bathroom is divided between a lavatory behind a partial wall with a closet, but the tub/shower/water closet is tiny--like room to stand and turn around; rooms were "remodeled" 7-8 years ago, but that seems to mean redecorated.  So, if you don't expect high-end, they are fine.  If your friends are "room snobs", they might not like them so much.  We are "older" and we like the casino; rarely crowded or loud in our experience.  For other quiet rooms, you might look at The California, or Main Street--we've stayed at both and really like both.

I stay some days at the Plaza every trip.  I prefer the newly renovated Luxe rooms in the North Tower.  I like the huge rooms, the fridge with free water in it, the bathrooms with a stand up tower so I don't have to trip over a tub.  I always ask to face away from Fremont and then the rooms are very quiet.

No matter where you are on Fremont, getting a room that DOESN'T face away from the FSE is a huge mistake. The room will be useless to you until the wee hours of the morning--and by wee hours, I mean 4 or 5 am, as the FSE supposedly shuts down at 2 (it's usually later) but the various clubs up and down the street keep on blasting music until dawn.

Building the stupid-ass FSE functionally ruined half the hotel rooms downtown.

Speaking for myself, I have never had a problem with noise downtown after the FSE shuts down at 2 am.

Thank You all for your responses! This was extremely helpful

I stayed at the FOUR QUEENS for a week and was assigned a room facing the FSE and found it really loud. (When I got to the room I was surprised to see a set of ear plugs were put out for me. In the first night I discoivered why!) I was too stubborn (or too stupid) not to get a room change, and just adjusted my daily schedule to keep my wandering downtown to exyend to at least 2AM before I returned to the room and retired. Unfortunately, one night under my window a guy set up sitting on a plastic bucket and doing renditions of drum solos on a couple of other buckets. He kept at it until about 3AM. (click... click... boom...boom... boom...click... click... and repeat over and over.)
