Plaza vs. Nugget

Looking for peoples thoughts on which hotel to stay at with all of the different things included. I do have mailers from both with Plaza having little better rooms and food/play offer. But never stayed at either place and wondering what others who may have stayed at both think.

Looking at things such as rooms/pool/places to eat, overall gambling/VP and after reading previous info, which would be best to be able to get decent sleep at with FSE issues. Probably coming out in mid-late July so definitely during warmer season. Thanks in advance for ideas.

Rooms: nicer at the Nugget, but also much more expensive than Plaza. Plaza is fine but rooms are a bit dated.

Gambling: much better VP, players club, and lower table limits at the Plaza. The Nugget also deals awful games with Strip-esque limits.

Food: good but expensive at the Nugget. Average but reasonably cheap at the Plaza. I recommend eating elsewhere in either case. Coffee shops at California and Four Queens are nearby.

Pools: the Nugget is a little nicer but the Plaza is perfectly adequate.

Coping with the FSE: Some rooms at the Plaza overlook the railroad tracks and face away from the FSE. Ironically, those used to be considered the "bargain" rooms as the view is of...well, nothing. The Nugget has some rooms that face the FSE and are sleep-proof. The ones that face away are MUCH preferable. The best antidote is to make SURE you request a quieter room when you reserve AND when you check in. If you don't make it explicit, you might get one of the noisy rooms.

Additional criteria: If you intend to visit multiple casinos and/or access public transit to get to the Strip, the Plaza is a bit more awkwardly placed than the Nugget. It's no joke having to walk a couple extra blocks in July. Also, if you like to play poker, the Nugget has downtown's only room.

I stay in the newly renovated Luxe rooms in the North tower at the Plaza and they are very nice;

comfy beds, huge rooms, fridge and coffee maker already in the room. I always ask to face away from Fremont Street and then the rooms are very quiet.

From a gambling perspective I'd rather get the attention of Plaza vs GN. They are more generous  to people at my level of play.     But no doubt about the fact GN room/amenity quality is better.   Its a 4 star resort - Plaza is 2.5.
