Pre-Trip, Trip Report!

I know this isn't the TR Board, but my trip is based Downtown and things are quiet around here...

This weekend is my annual trip to Sin City. It was originally set to be solo, but big brother Matt needs some Keno so we're making it a brotherly bonding vacation. I credit Matt for introducing me to Downtown so its a treat that he can come too.

Leaving Friday morning and I don't normally detail my flight, but since the TSA has everything all jacked up in Atlanta, I'll need to get to the Airport around 5 am, for an 820 departure. I'm only taking a carry-on, so I'll try the International Terminal and see if that saves a few mins.

I'm cashing in 2 free nights at the Golden Gate, who have always been good with comps. Matt lands late Thursday and will be staying at 4 Queens for 1 night, then using my room comps at Main Street Station. Friday we're gonna play Downtown & Saturday is a mini coupon run. We both leave Sunday afternoon.

Before each trip, I like to make a plan/schedule and check it post trip to see what I actually got to.

Friday - Downtown
- Play at Downtown Grand, Plaza, GG, MSS and everywhere else.
- We have it scheduled to spend a little time at Mermaids & La Bayou. Haven't been there in years, but worth one more stop before they shut it down.
- I got a Groupon for Vanguard Lounge, it's a fun spot with a cool vibe. But I'll be there early before it gets hipster and I look like the old guy at the bar.
- Also plan to spend some time at El Co. Always have a great great time there.
- We are bringing our trunks in case we need a few mins to relax at a pool. That being Binions or The Cal Pool (ppaaarrttyyy!!)
- Bed by 10 - seriously!

Saturday - Coupon Run! This is how I love doing Vegas while it makes Matt anxious
- I'd like to get a decent nights sleep because we have the grand idea of seeing a Vegas Sunrise (and my days of pulling an all nighter are behind me)
- So body willing, up early to see Downtown moments before dawn.
- From there cab/uber it to Silver Sevens for breakfast and play.
- Walk to EI for drinks and more play
- Depending on the mood, maybe hit The Max and Tuscany. Matt mentioned he may tap out after EI and head back for a nap.
- I usually avoid The Strip but need to hit Caesars to get tickets to see Brook and Dunn in 2017! In all my trips, this is probably my 2nd visit to Caesars.
- After that wild morning, I see a nap before playing more Downtown Saturday night.

I really cant wait. Vegas Baby!

the pool at the Cal may not be open. it was closed 2 weeks ago when I was staying at the Flea-mont.
Ahhh.. Good call. Thanks for the heads up.
Have a safe, fun and profitable trip! And as for Keno, are you talking about regular Keno, Video Keno or both?

At least with Video Keno, look for machines where 4 Spots are paying 2-5-100 (as opposed to 2-5-91 or worse) and 5 Spots pay 3-13-838 (instead of 3-12-810 or worse). These may be found at Downtown Grand and El Cortez.

And there is a Keno Calculator function on the Wizard Of Odds website where you can check out the return rates for what is offered at both Regular as well as Video Keno. Remember to if nothing else, look for the highest returns.

I can confirm with Vegasdev that the Cal's pool was closed on 5/13/16 when I went to cool off only to find that they have a black curtain covering the entrance.

Regarding Keno - its normally Video/Bar Top Keno. In the past, we have had some success at El Co and this weekend, we are curious of the new "better odds" at Downtown Grand is legit.

And thanks for the Pool info. Guess we will stick with the Binions spot, if we even have time. One thing about Vegas, time gets away from you so easily.

yes, I agree. in Vegas, the time often disappears even faster than your gambling bankroll.

Then make sure to check the pay schedules very carefully. The calculator says that on the 4 Spot with the 2-5-91 pay schedule, that return is 92.02% whereas with the 2-5-100 pay schedule, the return is 94.785%.

Again, better pay schedules are 2-5-100 for 4 Spots, 3-13-838 for 5 Spots and I think 3-4-75-1660 for 6 Spots.

And so as usual, pay schedules make the difference!

And so did you find the better paying Video Keno?
