Probably the closest to a comp room I'll see at Plaza

Thanks jm and RecVP. I'm glad it wasn't taken the wrong way. I'm well versed in grinding myself. My vegas trips usually start out with a butt kicking, then I spend the rest trying to scratch and claw back. Take care, and good luck to you both.
Don't know about since the remodel but before four hours of $25 BJ would get you anything you wanted. We used to get penthouse suites, limo to and from the airport, beer pop and water in the room and all the food comps we asked for. We also got free play and invitations to parties (NYE, Superbowl, etc.) The discussion about most of your play needing to be at the Plaza confuses me. They don't know where you are playing when you're not there. I was actually encouraged to go to the Vegas Club by my host. Every casino expects a certain level of play for a specified amount of time. I will say that for table players, endearing yourself to the floor and dealers goes a long way toward comps. I make a point of e-mailing my host at the end of my trip to find out what my play was and have found it to always be higher than actual. Be nice and tip.
As always, helpful comments as shown here are welcome. I have too weak a brain for card counting, and my legs wont let me stand at craps long enough to hit the time-on-table mark I read most often, four hours. So, I scan all websites and mail/email offers for deals, and churn at full pay JOB like it's my second job. Unfortunately, it's been over 8 weeks since a RF hit me in the face. Boo Hoo! I'll just have to try harder, beginning with the hundred dollar rebate at cosmo (hope there is still some 25c spin porker/multi sprite dealio at nearly full pay near the pit). Then I'll be on to downtown where I have some freeps, then, if my bankroll holds out, I'll use a nov. 11 promo to turn 99.54% JOB into 100.5% JOB. Thanks again for all the help, and Good Luck!

I mentioned this since jm said that he wants offers specifically for Plaza while not vastly playing at Plaza.

After just returning (yesterday) from another visit to LV, I can say that if you only play at Las Vegas Club, you won't get much if any comps at Plaza.

Plaza really wants you to play as much as possible there if you are going to get much of anything there.

The Slot Club definitely knows where, when and for how long you have played.

I was questioned about that by Las Vegas Club since I did play a little bit at Plaza this trip.

I can say that the casino looks nice there!

No, Joey, it's all fine! The more information that we can get for all levels of play there (or at any casino), the better informed we all will be!

(I had no history there) My play for the two days consisted of 5 hours of BJ at $25 level, with several bets at $50-$75, and a very few at $100. 2 hours of craps with $5 pass line with odds, and 2 $10 place bets. I had roughly 3 hours of 9/6 DDB at Lucky's bar, and roughly 1hour of 9/7 DDB on the floor. Don't ask me the coin in because I have no idea. :-) I usually play about 550 hands per hour on VPW if that helps. Although I do try to play a bit slower in the casinos.
I think it's great that the Plaza comped your two room nights.

Still, to my eyes, that's a lot of play to avoid a $100 or so room bill. Basically equivalent to turning two of your lowest BJ losers into winners.

If that's the stakes you always play for, then the room comp is a nice little bonus. But it's not the sort of thing anyone should chase by bumping their play, imho.

I've read all the books. But I still think comped rooms are about the most expensive accommodations Las Vegas has to offer.

I'm going to respectfully disagree here. I play video poker almost exlusively. This year, I've had around 30 nights of comped hotels and mostly comped food. I've lost around $400 for the year. That's around $13 per night. Even using LVA and ACG coupons, and specials off the LVA website, it would be tough to do better than that, especially when you factor in food.

So, it's not necessarily that comped rooms are the most expensive. But they are definitely the most unpredictable. If you pay your own way, you know how much your trip will cost. If you gamble enough to get comps, there's no telling... And you definitely have to visit often enough or stay long enough for the averages to pan out.
I also wanted to add, because I had a complete brain fart and forgot RecVPPlayer's meet at the El Cortez a couple of weeks ago (sorry about that), I played at the Plaza 3 days at $5K per day, all 9/6 JOB. I got the rooms comped then, and now am getting offers for 3 nights comped, with around $75/day in slot play. I also got an offer from them for 3 nights over NYE, with a little party (open bar, h'ors d'oeuvres, etc.) that night. I wasn't really expecting the NYE offer for that level of play.

I may or may not stay there in the future. The Plaza was OK - the rooms were nice - but there were only 3 9/6 jacks machines and I was pretty underwhelmed with the restaurants.
Ignore all his other play, and focus on the $25 hands of BJ that joebob27 played for 5 hours. At, say, 100 hands per hour, he gave the Plaza $12,500 in action. For that, they forgave a $100 room bill.

I'm not saying he shouldn't be pleased to have received a comped room. I'm am saying, however, that I wouldn't jack significant lesser play to that level to avoid a $100 room bill. If he's already gambling at that pace, the comped room is welcome icing on a cake.

That sober casino managers uniformly find it good business to provide free rooms in exchange for gambling play tells all one should need to know.

My question to you would be, what the heck brought this on in the first place? I don't believe I said one word about "bumping" my play for comps. Personally, I don't adjust my play for comps. (Hopefully) I learned that lesson many years ago.

For the record, $25 IS my base level of play at bj. As far as the increased bets go, I have no problem pressing my bet to any level when things are going well....and it was going quite well.

I do agree with your position on one playing above their level to get a room comp, or any other comp for that matter. I'm totally confused on how you thought I was playing at a certain level to "avoid" paying room charges.
