Question downtown hotels

It has been a LONG time since I've stayed downtown.  I did the Circa sign-up offer this past April and for some reason, now they have sent me offers for Jan and Feb.  (likely slow this time of year I'm guessing.)  So I have a choice of 2 nights at Circa, 3 at the D or 4 at Golden Gate.  Best VP is all Bonus poker 99.17 so nothing very good but I may give them some play with that offer.  They included $100 of free play so that offsets some of the poor vp.  I can play poker at Golden Nugget as well.  I got a $225 food and beverage credit so that should suffice me for food I'm thinking.  My question is which hotel to choose?  I'm used to Southpoint, Red Rock etc but I'm thinking something different might be kind of interesting.

2nd question.....if I stay downtown, is it worth bringing the wife?  She is used to a car and staying at Southpoint or Red Rock.  I'd probably get a car so that might relieve some of the sleaziness of downtown for her.  The plus side of bringing her is she could do the new sign-up offer at Circa, etc.

Jerry, if I may - If I had your offer I would stay at the Circa, hands down.  Of course, I would take the wife, especially since you say you may get a car. For any remaining nights you may be in Vegas, both Red Rock and South Point are solid choices - I would stay at either one of those depending on the offers you may have received from them.

That is not a bad idea.  Stay two at Circa and then the other two at SP

you may want to consider not moving around  take the 4 nights at the golden gate paying a relatively small price for an upgrade to one of their suites-----since you have comps you will not be charged resort fees or taxes on the upgrade-----if you have a car the valet parking is no charge and very convenient

------both the golden gate and their sister property the D have 25c 8/5 bonus with progressives not only for the royal but also for st flushes and 4 oaks 5 thru kings which pushes up the return cose to 100% at times--i once hit the st flush for $110

I would just grab the four nights at the GG. Play as much of that 8/5 as you think will generate future offers. If you move to another location in the middle of your stay, that burns half a day. Not worth it IMHO.

You should take the opportunity to get established at Plaza and 4Q as well. Plaza will be basically breakevin-ish VP and 4Q will actually be positive expectation, with their generous comps. Both places will send you future room and free play offers with very modest action. And you can, of course, use several LVA coupons while you're there.

You would really like the Golden Nugget poker room. It's surprisingly loose, with a good mix of locals and regs. You can also get a player's card there and your poker play will generate some modest offers.

Downtown isn't "sleazy" at all, if you stay in the touristy areas. There's enough to do and see that you could keep yourself busy for a long weekend. Your $225 will NOT be enough to feed two people for four nights--Circa's food is insanely overpriced--but there are lots of great food options downtown. Let me know if you want recommendations.

That is a pretty good idea too.  And I haven't played at Golden Nugget in probably 15 years easy.

I think I may do the downtown trip w or w/o the wife.  I'm up for something different and I like the 4Qs options too for some extra vp and seeing yet another place.  I honestly didn't know their club card was worth 0.3125%.  That is not bad at all.

I don't think the 8/5 vp would generate much in terms of offers but I really have no idea when I say that either. I didn't think the play I did last April would generate these offers either.

Thanks for the info!

If I was taking my wife, I would stay at Circa, (she would like it more than staying at the Golden Gate or the "D"), then on to the South Point. The rooms at Circa are very nice and very expensive - who knows when you may get another comped room offer there again. The $225 food allowance at Circa would go a long way towards food, if not cover all of the costs for 2 days/nights. Also, moving to South Point does not have to burn 1/2 a day, 2-3 hours at most. The South Point is conveniently located close to the car rental facility for the rental car return and would allow you not to have to rush and deal with traffic if you were staying downtown. If I was going solo,I would still do the same and stay at both casinos. Four days/nights downtown would really grow old by the third day for me. Whatever you choose to do, have a good time.

The 4Q also gives you 0.625% in comps, and Magnolia's is always a solid choice for iconic Vegas coffee shop food. (If you play their 10/7 DB--full pay--you earn half as much in comps and cash, making the total return for each game over 100.5%.)

As you noted, there's usually no correlation between your play and the offers you get--especially with new properties such as Circa that are still trying to establish their customer base. You might be surprised at what 4Q offers you for .25 play.

All great info here......really appreciate it.  You guys have me actually jazzed up with trying something new!  Thanks!
