Quietest Rooms on Fremont

One casino being overlooked is the California. I loved staying there but havn't since Boyd decimated their Players Club. The rooms there are really nicely appointed, though on the smallish side. When I stayed there I never encountered any noise problems. They have a great cafe and the employees are great. Though being a short ways away from the Fremont street Experience, their location makes for a quiet, relaxed stay.

I like the California, I usually pick up some chocolates for the wife at Ethel M's upstairs as well as hit up the Aloha Specialties for a late breakfast or lunch.  I generally stay at the Plaza these days due to comps but the California is decent all around and the recent updates help a lot.

Inaccurate.   Request third floor room facing the interior and you'll have a view of the HVAC units but zero FSE noise.   Stayed in this room type probably close a dozen times.

manny - nice to know - thanks

Spot on regarding Cal.  My favorite spot to stay on Fremont.  Nice and quiet and without much of the undesirable element that permeates much of downtown these days.  Service has always been excellent throughout.  Offers suck so not an obvious place to play given the decimation of the players club.

Hosts do have discretionary ability for both hotel comps as well as FnB.   They can also comp meal at other downtown Boyd properties.  If you're a notable loser on the day then shouldn't be a problem.   Scored one to 777 last trip and also would like to note they're now open 7 days per week for the first time since before the Vid

It's a pity, because like you, I used to get all sorts of offers from Boyd, and now, they all but spit on you. My favorite refuge was the pool floor at the Cal, I think it's the 12th floor. Pool access is no biggie to me either way, but the secret is that the empty space of the pool deck serves as a noise buffer. The pool floor at the Cal is the quietest place downtown!

I also like the Cal for its easy access to MSS, which still has some of the delights it used to have--the combination of their great in-house beer and decent VP makes for a great way to spend a couple of hours. And on the way over, I always stop at Lappert's ice cream. The Hawaiian flavors like macadamia and pineapple are incredible.

What type on room do you get there? Economy, standard, or premium?

Shouldn't be a surprise.   Most of these 'authors' typically just cut and paste press releases with maybe a few minor changes.

Just stayed at the Cal last week, and the rooms are fairly nice.  But make sure to face away from Main street because of the train noise and traffic.
