The "D" Hotel & Casino

Hi!

Has anyone been to the "D" Grill coffee shop in the "D" hotel? Has the menu changed from before when it was the Courtyard Grill? They used to offer a special on the "ribeye steak"....Is it still available as a "special"?

Does the "D" hotel still have the "Lucky Poker" progressive 25 cents machines? There used to be 2 banks, 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs....

Are the upstairs machines all "coin fed" or do they have some ticket-in, ticket outs?

Haven't been there since March 2012, but am thinking of going sometime this year.

Thanks....
I will be there over the Pres. wknd. Will report when I get back.
The ribeye special is gone-In fact, all specials are gone. We had the basic burger-the quality of their food seems to have improved. Service has also improved.
They do have some ticket in, ticket out upstairs..
I hated the old coffee shop. Incredibly depressing. The new one is a much better improvement. 100x better atmosphere, food better and better service. Prices are up a little but if you comped it doesn't really matter.

Thanks everyone for your reply...Sounds like the restaurant has improved now....
Just came back last night from Vegas - our last 3 nights were comped at the D. The new restaurant is night and day compared to the old Courtyard Cafe. Wait staff has vastly improved - talked to one of the staff and they all had to undergo 2 weeks of training that included memorizing the menu. Waitresses/waiters all dressed nicely in the D colours . The bus people (mainly younger guys it seemed) were all dressed in black pants, long sleeved shirts in a wine colour, ties and vests and we were just seated when one put in an appearance at our table, introduced himself and said he would be our bus person. When they came to take plates away they carried them away on trays ( in the old Courtyard Grill if they even had a bus person they would put the dirty dishes in plastic bins on a trolley that rattled and rolled and they passed by your table). It appears they are trying to be a little more upper scale - but with service comes a price so the menu has changed slightly - no more $ 2.99 breakfast, $5.99 lunch or dinner specials written on a dry erase whiteboard - you just order off the menu. Prices generally higher than before but we only looked at the breakfast menu. Food was OK - nothing special but we only ate breakfast there and it was tasty. Prices still cheaper than on the strip. I had the short stack pancakes while my husband had the French toast - food was hot and we ate it all ! Doing up a trip report in a couple of days and will include more details on the renovations noted.
Havefunlv....

good to hear that the restaurant is much better now....I used to luv the fried chicken platter, very tasty, but a bit salty....I hope that they still have that on the menu.....

Can't wait to hear more about the new renovated "D".....

Thanks for the info....hope that you won some $$'s on this past trip......

Don't know about all of the machines upstairs, but the Sigma Derby definitely was coins only. They walked around selling them. My strategy was to go with the longshots. The men next to me said the only winning play was to hit the favorites....hard. They started off strong, but by the end of the night, they were down $40 and I was up $135. We had so much fun playing that game for hours though that I would probably have been cool with losing a few $. Not to mention that the drink service was quick and often. (Plus a cool....take your photo for free and send it to your friends.....machine right at the Sigma Derby.

Love the D.

Love the American Coney Island. Ate there 3 times in 2 days.
