Resort fee at The D for comped rooms

I just made a reservation for early January and was told that as of January 1st, they are now assessing a resort fee of $33 per night on comped rooms that are booked for Friday or Saturday nights. Sunday was still waived. Previously the fee(I believe it was like $14-20/night) was waived on comped rooms any night of the week. This is disheartening and I hope it is not a sign of things to come. The Stevens properties have become some of our favorites due to generous comped rooms, food credit and free play based on video poker play. We will see if a host will take care of the resort fees while we are there.

Unfortunately, this is a common downward trend. First time I remember was several years ago, when the Palms hit me for $45 a night for my "comped" room.

I'm not in the least bit surprised to see Derek-buddy do this to you. I frankly have not been nearly as impressed with Circa as others seem to be and have never liked the D. Any place that offers a $26 pastrami sandwich won't fly very high on my radar.

The sad story of "I liked this casino and was a good customer but now, they're squeezing me" is a Vegas trope these days.

I agree with you about the prices, but so far the comps provided cover all of our food costs. Admittedly, we also usually hit Magnolias and/or Chicago Brewing at 4 Queens as it's almost impossible to use all the food comps they provide for very modest play.

4Q, no resort fee, comps awarded at 0.6% (+0.3% cash back), Magnolia's...why bother with the Derek joints?

BTW have the gumbo at Magnolia's, whatever else you do.

We just returned on 12/16, stayed at The D, 2 nights comped from our offer, no resort fee charged.  Did not have to speak with a host, just booked through normal channels.

hope this helps

Yeah, well, Michael told us that the resort fee isn't until Jan 1.

We like the variety of playing at different places downtown, although have sworn off the Boyd properties. They have a local place close to us and have really gutted their players club.

The progressives at Downtown Grand make for a pretty good game. Hit the aces with kicker in December for a little over $800. Can't figure out how, but DG gave me $100 free play twice per month. My wife plays right next to me, almost as fast and she only gets $5. I'll take whatever I can get these days.

Oh, and I'll definitely try the gumbo. Thanks for the recommendation.

Four Queens right next door with $0 Resort Fees is the better choice, but you have to get a south tower room on the south or Golden Nugget side of the Fremont experience because of the noise.

I try to get a room higher up, but most definitely facing away from the stage.

Free parking for hotel guests is nice too, but I'll always support a place with 0 RF.

Love The D, stayed in  that building 23 tmes ( Fitzgeralds),disappointed in Derek  Stevens thought he was good for downtown, 4  Queens? maybe.Like stayng Downtown. Hookem Horns
