Rumor of Downtown Grand being sold

The Downtown Grand, could be a descent place if they replaced the beer nazi bartenders.

Been going to DG since it opened 10 years ago. Was formerly GN but it turned into a dump. Primarily play VP at the bar and we know everyone at DG which helps with anything needed, Sucked Joe who was running the floor dropped all the VP scheduled by one. All the VP used to have pay tables one under the full pay. That was definitely a draw to go but Joe said we will be even keel with everyone else. Glad he retired! He has no clue since DG had one of the best pay schedules with Fremont St casinos. Hopefully whoever buys the joint sees that!

Freedom Beat diner shutdown about a week ago; everyone got walking papers.

Rumors that vendors aren't getting paid.

Ch 11 appears in their near future...

Surprised LVA didn't report any of this in Aug issue

I have a reservation thete for November, and paid deposit by Credit Card. What happens to the deposit if Chapter 11 occurs?

Wondering if I should cancel and rebook elsewhere.

i wouldn't worry about it, your CC company will take care of it.  Anyway, CH 11 is re-organization, not liquidation, they'll be booking rooms.

You paid a deposit?

WTF, why? Did a charge actually hit your account?

(BYW, don't worry, you won't lose your money.)

Staffing seems to be a problem. Got to the front of the line at the service desk and she had to leave it to help with a hot seat drawing she said.  We had to wait for her to come back.  Two days later, no one in the booth again, but we began a line.  Security guy came by and said she was helping with a hand pay.  Waiting again.  No one coming and line getting longer.  Someone asks at the cage what's going on and they tell her that they're at lunch, not helping with a hand pay, leaving the booth unattended for like an hour.  As the line begins to break up, a guy does show up and processes our free play offer.  Thinking that it was not a coincidence that we happened to hit the booth twice unattended.  Probably happens a lot.

No incentives..no draws..poor service; they're already bankrupt. Shame in that it offered some of these things in the not so distant past.

Overall, it traces back to all the post-covid staff reductions. Because of the subsequent feeding frenzy and the public's seeming toleration of The Gouge, the casinos convinced themselves that they could operate just fine with 80% of the staff they had before. So the Vegas victims, er, visitors learned to tolerate shitty service...until now, with the Trumpcession under way.

Unfortunately, returning staffing to former proper levels is one of the absolute last things they will do to recoup business.
