Same question - different twist GOLDEN NUGGET Towers

I was all prepared to book the Rush Tower (I am comped for Rush, Gold or Carson) but the reservation agent indicated that GOld tower rooms are just as nice as Rush Tower and quieter.  However, I have looked at the website and see that the Rush Tower rooms are 70 square feet larger and from what i can tell, considered an upgrade.  The agent said Gold Tower is closer proximity to casino, which makes me worry that is louder than Rush Tower.  Just wondering whether I should call back and switch to Rush.  Any of you stayed in both and have opinions??  Thanks in advance!

IMHO - what is more important to you, 1) the ability to sleep in a quiet room, 2) more square footage as you deal with excessive noise when trying to sleep, and/or 3) when you get to sleep, just what is the benefit of having an extra 70 square feet in a room?

First priority is quiet, but i'm confused because of the proximity of Gold Tower to Casino which makes me think Rush would be more quiet.  Do you know which is the quietest, noting that i'm no high roller so the spa suites are not an option =)

Julie - someone who has stayed there recently will have to help you with your question - I only stayed there once, some 10 years ago. I too prefer quiet and as I drift off to sleep the extra square footage means nothing to me.

Haven't stayed at the GN, but in no casino hotel I have ever stayed was CASINO noise heard from my room.  Noise is mostly an issue coming from streets (think Downtown, the FSE with the bright lights, etc), outside concert areas, maybe elevators in older hotels.

The agent you spoke to said Gold tower rooms "just as nice...and quieter."  Go with that.  Quiet is prime with me as well.

I'd not worry about 70 more feet constituting what we think of as an upgrade.  It might mean an extra coffee table or chair or something, but that sounds like hotel-speak to me...70 sq feet larger being an "upgrade"...nah. JMHO, of course.

Good luck.

The trouble is that the agent likely has not stayed in many rooms in the towers, she works there, and this is what she was told.  The opinions you got here were from people who have stayed at GN many times.  I've stayed at the GN at least 50 stays, in all the towers.   Yes, the Rush tower rooms are a bit larger, for sure.

There were several posts in your other thread as to the difference in the GN towers.  Nothing has changed.  Review that thread and you can read the pros and cons of each tower.

Everyone has different values and preferences, there is no "best tower" for everyone.  Look at what was said and you can make a decision.
