Shocker: McDonald’s to Close at The D, Here’s Why It’s a Big Deal

I have been in there a few times over the years and never had a problem.

I have seen more homless folks at the other cheap dining options downtown than I have in there. The Fremont's new food hall has a cheap fast food resturant ($4.99 value meal) and an entrance directly on the street.

And White Castle attracts even a poorer demographic than McDonalds. So I am not really sure how these places are any different than McDonalds.

They will probably put another overpriced resturant with bad service and poorly prepared food like Bacon Nation in that space.

The D has some of the cheapest rooms downtown. The demographic that stays there isn't looking to spend $30 on brekfast at Bacon Nation. They are looking for McDonalds.

😆 It happens from time to time.

I went into the Downtown Grand on my last trip and the homeless were all gathered around the hot dog stand selling the cheap hot dogs and beer.

Well, silly them, they should have been more explicit with their signage: "$2 Hot Dog and Beer, But Only If You Stick Around and Blow Your Paycheck."

Isn't that the eternal promo struggle writ small? They want to make more from the customers their promos attract than those promos cost them. We LVAers, at least, want to suck up the promo goodies without emptying our wallets. It's as old as Og offering Thak a bowl of fermented goat's milk if he'd play a game of Rock Rock Rock for elk skins.

None of this seems "shocking" to me.

OMFG!!!

A McDonald's closed!!!

Commence the wailing and the rending of the garments!!!

That wasn't really what the article was about. It was a moan and groan about how the (horrible) people a casino grind joint attracts somehow ruined the ambiance and "forced" this McClosure.

The article doesn't say why management at The D wanted McDonald's to close.

You're speculating.

in fact, the author wrote that he wasn't able to get an explanation out of The D.

"We asked Derek Stevens to comment on this story, but he declined."

There could have been many reasons. Such as McDonald's is very bad.

You don't go to Vegas to rent a car, or to take a shower, or to have a cup of coffee, but you'll probably want to do those things at some point, and it's better if it's as nice, as clean, and as convenient as possible. When I'm in Vegas, not every meal I have is goomay. Visitors forget that Vegas is a place where 2 million+ people live, and it has much more of the everyday mundane than the glittery and touristy.
