Well, we can see where they spent all the money they got from tightening up the VP machines =)
It does look nice. The big screen will make for a good Monday Night Football venue. Definitely easier on the eyes all the way around but I prefer the old, run-down dive version of El Cortez with more player friendly games.
Yeah. I wish they would stop renovating places downtown too.
It does look nice, but I'm with PJ and wish they would bring some of their good games back. Heck, even if it were the 8/5 Bonus Poker they used to have at the Parlour Bar. They went from having a great inventory of video poker (even if some were coin droppers) to not worth the walk down from the canopy except for the LVA coupon and boarding pass promotion.

I concur.
I also agree with the downgrade of the VP at the Cortez. This was my go to place for quite a few years. Used to love seeing Jackie playing at the tables and having one of my favorite cocktail waitresses who knew my name as well as the players club personal - especially Rose. Sadly Jackie sold the joint and then passed away, Rose passed away as well and my cocktail waitresses disappeared along with the good VP. I still stop by to get my freeplay from the LVA book but I seldom stay more than it takes me to lose the money. It does make me sad as I really did enjoy it along with the easy free rooms for a low roller like me.
A downtown casino featuring 50 cent minimum VP? A bad precedent- hopefully they will feel the pinch and bring back 25 cent vp.
I could be wrong but when we were there last month there was plenty of 25 cent demom, but the min. bet might have been 50 cent. This has been pretty common lately with min bets from 20 cents to 2 dollar min. depending on the denom
