Some Spots are Better Than Others

Do you have a "lucky" casino?

Lately there have been grumblings about Downtown becoming too tight with the slots and the table limits being raised. But do you have better luck at one location over another?

For me, Ive always done well at Binions. I dont know why, but its usually a guaranteed (small) win.

Outside of Downtown, I love hitting The Max Casino at the W. There is a small bank of Progressive Slots that every time I walk away a winner.

marko..
at the risk of sounding too negative, I can name many that I don't feel lucky in. there are many casinos in vegas that give off a blood-sucking vibe when you walk in the door, and I give them little or no action and promptly leave. I have been to vegas 50 times or more, and I always feel like I have had better luck at the casinos in Indiana than I have in vegas. that is speaking of slots anyway. as far as table games, it does not seem to matter too much to me as long as it is not a 6:5 BJ or some other crappy carnival game. I can recall one time I won about $600 on some free slot play at MSS. I have had some good hands dealt to me on pai-gow at Orleans or GC.
I think that at least with Blackjack and Video Poker, a person can be more "lucky" by playing at places that offer decent rules/pay schedules in addition to playing in about the best mathematical way as possible (with the aid of hopefully a good playing strategy chart).

I'm of the opinion that good playing strategy skill will lead more players to still be around for "luck" to end up happening.

I have been luckiest at casinos where I put in the most time playing. With video poker, I believe it boils down to playing many hands, making the correct decision (based on your ability) each hand, and hitting enough quads to sustain your play. Sustaining your play until a big win comes along is essential. If not, it will be expensive waiting to hit a good win.

I couldn't have said it better myself. That is why I generally feel luckier playing at most places downtown than on the Strip or at Indian casinos.

Players should be aware that at least with 9/6 Jacks Or Better VP, 4 Of A Kinds comprise about 6% of the game's entire return. And so if you don't have at least one of them in your playing session, then you are more likely to not have a positive ($) result.

With the game returning about 99.5% in the long run (that's factoring in ending up with every paying hand), not hitting the Royal Flush and Straight Flush lower the game's overall return by about 2.5% as it is (which brings the short run return down to about 97%. And then without having a 4 Of A Kind, that would lower the overall return down to about 91%.

which is still better than most slots.

Absolutely, but still people should keep in mind that even with a good paying machine, the return can end up being not as good as they think if good enough hands do not end up showing up.

I've become a "Stations" fan in recent years for the good gaming and promotions...and I like how all the casinos are linked in the same players club. Boulder Station, Texas Station, and Sante Fe Station are all good to me. And I've also won at the Fiesta properties frequently. Its getting so I spend more than half my bankroll at Stations properties each visit.

Comps are still more generous at El Cortez but since their steakhouse closed I find that I accumulate comps faster than I can spend them there....so Stations are getting more play from me.
