Staying downtown CAL, MSS or Fremont

I usually stay at the Orleans but am thinking about staying at one of the boyd properties downtown for my Christmas trip. Going the week after the NFR so will be a very slow week in LV.

Leaning towards the California as they are supposed to have fridges in rooms, some postings also said some rooms had microwaves.

Any suggestions on what rooms to try for ? high floor or any remodeled rooms ?

Also is condition of the rooms in these three going to be similar to the Orleans ? Is the Cal the best choice ?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks
I would go - 1 - MSS, 2 - 4Queens
Four Queens is not a Boyd property.

1) Cal West Tower
2) MSS on high floor with low, odd-numbered room (ie 1501, 1503, 1401, 1403,ect.)
3) Fremont
Every room I've stayed in at MSS has a fridge. Not a mini bar, but a fridge. And they have the Boar's Head Bar for VP, which seals the deal

Just because they are THINKING of staying at a Boyd property, does not preclude 4Queens, Siegel Suites, or a Storm Drain. I am simply stating what I think would give them a satisfactory experience - which would be MSS and 4Queens.

Tonyrob, checking out the 4Queens, doesn't have to be a Boyd property but I give them a preference in that I have had good experiences with all of there properties.

vegasvp thanks for the info leaning toward the Cal, it has a vibe I like.

Muskeg thanks. I am a VP player
Don't get me wrong, I have stayed at the Fremont many times and will continue to do so, BUT.........

Go into your bathroom, picture a bed in there with you and you now know what the room are like at the Fremont (I have never seen any suites mind you)

I do stay at the Fremont when I go to Vegas solo and I just need a place to crash for $39 a night, but I almost have to stay at the Golden Nugget (Gold or Rush towers) when I take the wife (AKA the princess) with me to Vegas.

Enjoy your trip .......weggie
The only Boyd place that I ever stayed in was Fremont (I think that this was about 8 years ago) and it was not what I prefered because not only was the bathroom extremely dinky (the towel rack was in the back of the bathtub/shower) but also the room had shutters which I do not care for (when I sleep, I want darkness)! So keep these things in mind (unless you're okay with them).

MSS has shutters as well. If you need the room totally dark, you'll want to bring a sleeping mask.
Thanks for all the input, decided to go with the Cal. Kept my reservation at the Orleans for now in case I change my mind. Both are less than
$180 for 5 nights, can't beat that.
