Have thought about staying at the Cal several times, but usually end up at 4-Queens due to room offers. Let us know how your stay was! Hope you have a great trip.
The Cal is a good choice for rooms, gaming and food. If you stay there ask for a west tower room facing east so you won't be on Main Street. I've found those rooms to be the most quiet in the hotel.
FWIW I stayed at a Boyd property not mentioned yet, The Gold Coast, in March. The rooms were newly remodeled and looked better than any room I've had at Orleans (also in March), MSS (Last November) or the Cal (last week)!
