Three Nights Comped at Golden Gate...Dare I???

I've read tripadvisor reviews...it's a mixed bag. Any thoughts? (ps - I am a super low-roller...free nights are not the norm for me).

LOL to CLV.

Spanky132, hey I'm getting big at GG!!!

They now send me a monthly mailer, although that may change to every 2 months
since the latest one has offers that cover Feb. and March.. LOL

Mine includes 2 nights.

I have never stayed there but must say am very curious to see rooms remodeled or not
that date to 1900 or so. LOL

Member Jennifer has stayed there. You might want to ask her about their rooms.

Now, as far as the casino, I like to play there a little bit.

New management has changed things quite a lot. Some good and some bad. LOL

DuPar's is now the new restaurant replacing the Bay City Diner.

I think the quality has improved although Bay City was very good.
Prices are higher.

The casino now is attracting the younger crowd slanting towards the male gender.

It's very noisy in there but tolerable.

My usual play there is $100 on roulette and 20-30 minutes of BJ during my downtown
swing of casinos. Oh, and the $5-$10 Free Play. LOL

Let me know about the rooms.

I don't know if all of the rooms have been redone, but what they show online looks decent. The one caveat would be the size. Even online they look pretty small. They look nice, but small. Maybe 225-250 sq ft, which is a guess. I travel alone and when I don't, I prefer my own room, so that wouldn't bother me. Call and check to see if they're all new or not. I plan on trying the place at sometime myself. Free is a good price.

Good Luck!

Mare, Jen left the building?

I thought she was a lifer. LOL
We stayed there one night. The room was not bad, just really really small. I believe it was only a full size bed with a small walk way around the bed. the room has a tiny closet and small bathroom. One thing that is good is that the rooms are quiet. You can't hear any thing--maybe no one else was there.
Thanks everyone. We ll see if I get a reservation. I was given a number to call. Left a mesage. No call back as of yet.... I'm not sure I want to beg someone to book a room. If I get through I think I ll go for it. Free is free.
I've stayed there. It's nice and simple and small. Hard to imagine a casino where you can walk from your room to another casino so quickly.

These are old-style rooms, upgraded numerous times. Think of a small hotel room, then cut it in half. Small.

But fine for a solo cheapskate gambler, especially when free.
1 night is fine @ Golden Gate.
2 nights is stretching it but ok.
3 nights? No. Too small and claustrophobic. Even if you only use your room to sleep and shower its too cramped for a 3 night stay IMO.
