Top 5 Downtown Restaurants

What, in your opinion, are the top 5 places to eat in Downtown Las Vegas? It doesn't have to be in order.
Assuming your looking for a generic listing, but my 5 favorite non-buffet spots:

- Oscars - Sit at the bar, good vibe and ask for the off menu drinks.
- Du Pars - Pancakes. Worth the hype.
- Hash House a Go-Go - Bring your appetite.
- Flame at El Co - THIS SPOT HAS BEEN SCRATCHED OFF MY LIST.
- I cant think of the name, but there is a Mexican restaurant as you walk from the FSE to ElCo. Its small, but really good and cheap.

Don't forget Hugos Cellar at the Four Queens.
Need more info to really answer your question. Top five for me, assuming price is no object, would be
Hugo's Cellar
Binions Steakhouse
Redwood
Chart House
Triple George (this one has gone downhill)

Now, which restaurants do we eat at most often - therefore I guess they are our top five factoring in price -
Triple 7 Brewpub
EAT
Flame
Binion's old Snack bar
Redwood

Finally, the bkfst buffet at MSS is probably the only downtown buffet we eat at regularly. Coffee shop at the Cal would be on the list, but wait times are always prohibitive, and our service has been very slow once seated.

To sort of echo roycpa, "top 5" or "best 5" is kind of tough to answer. I have not eaten at many of the places that people would lump in the "top" category, like Vic and Anthony's, or some of the more upscale places.

For fine dining, my favorite downtown is still Hugo's Cellar. I like the vibe of the place and their blackened salmon and steaks are really good. Plus the guy with the salad cart is such a nice touch.

I ate at the Chart House once. It was very good, but I think you could do better at McCormick and Schmick, even though that's not downtown.

I've also eaten many times at the Flame and Redwood Grill at the Cal. Both are a notch below Hugo's, but both are a good bit less expensive.

For casual dining, I still like 777 at Main Street Station, although I do think that has gone downhill a little bit. I also really enjoy Magnolia's at the 4Q, and the Café Cortez.
The only restaurant that I've eaten in in Downtown LV is at the Huntridge Soda Fountain which is at Charleston Blvd. and Maryland Parkway, and I highly recommend it! It's Kosher and Dairy/Vegetarian (except for one or two fish options).

It was also reviewed by one of the people who was involved in the LVA Dining Guides (the review is available also on the website for Huntridge Soda Fountain).

I define "best" as places I eat at most frequently....which means they have good food at a good price
1) The Flame
2) Pizza Rock
3) The Diner @ California
4) EAT
5) Taco joint accross from the D

and for dessert...the Hawaiian Ice Cream Parlor at the California.
1) Aloha Specialties - California
2) Market Street Café - California

Also as PJ mentioned, Lappert's Ice Cream at the Cal.

These are the places I eat most often when visiting downtown along with the Main Street Station buffet.
Gonna throw a curve here. We always eat at the Cous Cous. It's a little cafe next to that gross place that advertises heart attacks. It's not fine dining but it's always tasty. Give it a whirl. I also like happy hour at the Nugget's Grotto. I get the tomato basil soup (which is REALLY good!) and a pizza and a glass of something white.
Hugo's Cellar is good... even for solo diners... and Andiamo's at The D has wonderful food. Andiamo's was recently selected Best Restaurant Downtown. I love shrimp cocktail at DuPar's for a light lunch. Binion's has a good choice of breakfast items. A side order of bacon is humongous... and the coffee comes in 16 oz. cups. As you can tell... I love downtown and it's many excellent food choices.
