Trying to Pick Hotel Downtown

I've stayed at a few of the places dowtown: Plaza(pre-renovation), LV Club, Binions, and Golden Nuggett. By far the best was GN. However, rooms are too expensive the weekend we are going, so I need to find someplace else. I am leaning toward the Four Queens or the D, but would like everyone's input into their stays downtown. I'll be going with my buddies the first weekend of March Madness, if that makes a difference. Thanks!
I have been going downtown for March Madness for quite a few years. I would suggest The D as the rooms are recently renovated. The LVA member rewards has a good coupon for The D. I used a promo code The D sent me for last years play so it was $106 for 6 nights, not quite free, but darn close!

You might want to get your reservation in soon, it might be a busy year. I made my reservations in December...
El Cortez Cabana Suites. I believe you can use the LVA coupon and there might be a hotel/website special as well.
I love MSS and 4Queens.
MSS has larger rooms, armchairs in the rooms (a biggie for me) and an inhouse buffet - great deal.
4Queens is right in the centre of Fremont - they don't have armchairs in the room.
MSS has armchairs, a good value buffet, and their gift shop sells alcohol at liquor store prices.
Both have great brewpubs - 4Queens has Magnolias - prime rib for under $10.00 - good restaurant.
Both have great video poker. 4Queens casino seems busier.
4Queens brings good drinks to players - and fairly regularly.
MSS doesn't - unless you always request a double - then they are fine - and regular.
People have noise complaints about both - I have always heard traffic/trains/music - but never enough to bother me.
(Some folks should bring ear-muffs LOL)
Both are easy to get comps - but 4Queens are more generous.

I think that Four Queens rooms are fine and they have good Video Poker and a good Slot Club.

I have never stayed at the D (or Fitzgeralds before it), so I can't comment on that.

As for Plaza, their rooms are decent as well but they have recently instituted (for those who don't have a comp room offer) a $10 per day (Plus I think Tax as well) Resort Fee which includes Free Internet Access and Free Local and 800 Phone Calls among some other things.

And as was said before, there are some LVA Coupon hotel room deals for the D as well as El Cortez.

We stay alternately at the Four Queens and Main Street. We really like the Main Street better, both for rooms and for the very beautiful casino.

If you watch you can get a good deal on a very nice room at Golden Nugget. Last time we stayed there I think we paid $29, got two tickets to Gordie Brown, some buffet discounts, a couple of free drinks and some other miscellaneous coupons. However the VP isn't good there, so we have only stayed a couple of times.
