weekend security on Fremont

FYI,
Last Friday night I was on Fremont street and at around 4:00PM security started putting up barricades around the street and casinos like they were having some sort of event (concert?)
I asked around and was told by a vendor that the police are cracking down on youths getting into fights and causing all around mischief, so they simply were not allowing anyone under 18 even on Fremont after 8:00pm on the weekends and the barricades are to help crowd control.
I had to wear a purple arm band signifying that my age had been checked (I am 52) by security.
I also saw the black cop that was on a Vegas version of "cops" for a couple of years (forgot his name)he was part of the homeland security saturation team. I didn't bother getting a picture but he did get recognized and drunks were high 5'ing him. He looked irritated by this.

Yes they do because it was 1st Friday a big event many people look forward to and attend as well. We will be in Vegas for the December event!

This is the First Friday arts event in the Arts District? That only extends to Charleston. Kind of sad that that would cause curfew and other issues on Fremont, especially for visitors who are under 18.

Weggie, I was also on the FSE last Friday evening. I was surprised when I came out of the El Co and saw the fences. They checked our ID's got our wrist bands and we were on our way to the Gate. It was pretty much a zoo under the canopy...so I was forced to sit at a BJ table at the Gate all night....hee hee.
