What's the One thing you Have to do downtown?

I generally stay on the strip but try to get downtown for a half day each trip. I always go to MSS but I know I am missing a lot of things. Suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.
Most of these have been mentioned in another thread, but here's another list of downtown highlights.
Pool and shark tank at Golden Nugget
Shrimp cocktail at Golden Gate
FSE light show
Good inexpensive entertainment at GN and at Fitz.
Zip lines (not nearly as good as the originals out at Boulder City)
Bands at one of the bandstands
More good beer at Chicago pizza inside 4Q
Gambling - much better odds than the strip for slots, vp, and table games
Food - many place in all price categories are outstanding - too many to list.
Hotel rooms - rent 2 for what it would cost on the strip for 1
People watching - more diverse group than on the strip.

Next time stay downtown and devote a 1/2 day to the strip. (Once you've tried it you'll never go back!!)

Not including the Girls of glitter gulch and the deepfried twinkies, etc.

Well, there are several, but I ALWAYS take the Fremont Street Experience coupon and go to Golden Gate and get two original shrimp cocktails for a total of $2. Ususally play long enough to get a beer delivered to me and then take it back to a hight table in the deli and enjoy a cold beer and shrimp.
One place I like to go to downtown is the Beef Jerky Store on 3rd Street, near the Fremont and Fitzgerald's. Despite the store's name, it's actually got a whole variety of jerkied meats (dried baby crabs, anyone?) as well as bunches of dried fruit, nuts, and candies. A somewhat unusual food place to shop in between gambling sessions.

Cobb salad and a Black Chip Porter at 777 at MSS.
1. Shrimp cocktail at GG
2. Spam musubi at Aloha Specialties
3. Cigars at Bad Habits
4. Afternoon of blackjack at El Cortez
For a nice diversion gaming-wise I like to have at least one session on the Full-Pay Pick 'Em Poker machines at Fremont Casino.

The first thing we do is go to Mermaids and play the old, original, penny machines in the back. They were the first "ticket out" machines that we ever saw, so it's mainly just for memories. But Mermaids also has very fast cocktail service, if you can get past the uckiness.

There is an outdoor second-floor bar area at Fitzgerald's that's great for watching the zip line, the FSE and just people in general.

I agree with roycpa, you need to spend more than half a day downtown. We're going for 5 nights in October and 3 of them will be downtown and we can't wait!
