Why Isn't The Zipline Working Downtown:

I'm supprised the " Mayor's " of L.V. havn't commented on this, " Oscar's " restaurant at the Plaza has their signature restaurant view blocked by this obstruction, also if enough of us start cancelling our Fremont St. hotel rooms stating that this zip line is too much to navigate etc. meaning it really bungles up both ends of Fremont, If I was a Hotelier, I would not want anything impeding my customers from entering my establishment !
The damned thing cost $11,000,000! I really doubt they will tear it down in the near future!

The zipline has insurance for this. Additionally, they screen riders for loose objects, I don't think they let you ride with sunglasses even.

Yes, things will fall and people will be hurt. Doesn't mean the whole thing will shutdown when it does. They've priced their rides high enough to pay for insurance sufficient to cover injuries from falling stuff.

That being said, I don't like the thing and wish it wasn't there.

Not throwing slams into the ZIPLINE but that is the last thing that enters my mind while spending fun time in Las Vegas it rates right down there with buying 4 for $10.00 T-shirts....Others may find it perfect a ending to another fun night of gambling. ......different strokes for different folks...The machine itself it an attraction to some I guess. But a 11 million dollars is a nice size investment.
OK. I'll finally chime in here.

I don't work for the FSE, but I am pretty familiar with this project even though I'm not directly involved. I'm certainly not a spokesperson, and am not directly connected with this project, so my comments are mine alone.

Regarding those who are concerned about falling objects, etc, remember that the old zip line was open for 2-3 years, and I never heard or read about any of these things happening. Not saying they never did, but it didn't appear to be an issue from what I saw and heard. On the old ride, if you had anything that was loose, it had to either go into a locker in the ticketing area, or in a mesh bag that was attached to the back of the harness - flip flops, eyeglasses (sunglasses and prescription), cups, etc had to be stored safely so nothing would be accidentally dropped.

As far as to why it's not open yet, new technology is involved - it's not just a simple line strung between two points. New issues have to be addressed as they arise, and after the project is completed, it still has to go through a lengthy period of safety testing and city approval. So, the timeline is necessarily flexible, which is why an opening date hasn't been announced....nobody knows for sure. Everyone wants to get this up and running as soon as it can be done safely.

The old (short) line was a blast - I can't wait to try the full-length line! The facility is typical Vegas over-the-top....I mean, come on....visitors can shoot themselves out of a giant slot machine and fly past all of the vintage neon and over the crowds? Where else could you do this?
SOOOOO, the reason that it's down is because they are making the zip line longer?
Waiting for permits from the city? Stuck in legal issues?
I wanna GO!!!
Still not open April 4th.
Been welding on the canopy when I was there.Hammer drills!
Working on an UPPER zip line, higher up,as I see.
