Wife 1st time in Vegas...MSS or Fitgeralds?

I haven't stayed at MSS in about 8 years. I get free rooms for Fitz and casino rate and a couple free nights at MSS. Of those two where should we stay? Who has the better rooms? We go during March Madness and last time our tv at the Fitz was pretty crappy (tube style and bad picture). The last night taking her to the Wynn for one night to see the strip. Rest of trip spent downtown. Too cold for pools so no concern there.

Any advice on rooms?
Thanks,
Don.
MSS--for your wife. Casino is soooo much nicer. Rooms are cozy--but still have tube style tv.
I'd also choose MSS. As far as the tube style TV's, why are you watching the games in the room? Go to a nice sports book. If the sportsbooks are too crowded, watch the games in a nice lounge. You're on vacation. GET OUT OF THE ROOM!
I'd clearly pick MSS. Fitz is really showing it's age--hotel rooms are quite thread bare and the casino is not real clean. We used to stay there every once in a while, but avoid it now. The MSS, on the other hand is very interesting---casino is unique appearance, rooms are recently re-decorated, the place has character. The only question might be in the walk from MSS to Fremont---my wife does not like to make it by herself after dark. I have no such feelings, but I recognize her concern. To avoid this, walk up the stairs at MSS and use the crossover to the Cal; take the escalator down and walk out the southwest door; cross the street and enter directly into the Vegas Club's back door and it dumps you directly onto Fremont under the cover. To each his/her own, but I'd recommend the MSS.

Have been staying in MSS and Fitz for years. Stayed at both last month. My wife is fussy...I mean likes the nicer things in life

She just puts up with MSS. The casino wins her over. We get the suites and she is fine with them. She has stayed in a normal room as well. Get a high room, low numbered odd room (eg 2101 or 1903). These rooms face away from the highway and are as far from the railroad as possible. Also have views of the strip in the distance. Also 777 is a great place for a casual meal with lots of life (e.g. noise). Buffet at MSS is also a winner for the price.

She wont stay in Fitz, although she has seen the rooms (we have lots of rooms we don't stay in).
We used to love Fitzgerald's and have stayed there often. We finally got fed up with how dirty and not updated the rooms are and have quit staying there until they get renovated. So, MSS it is if you only have those two choices. If you don't mind paying for a room, how about Golden Nugget or the Plaza?

I agree with daviddechenne on how to walk from Fremont to MSS. Safest way. Good luck wherever you stay!
If you are only considering Fitz and MSS I can't guide you. But I will tell you that the Gold Tower rooms at the Nugget are every bit as good as anything that Mirage group has to offer - and I hear that the Rush Tower is even better.

Thanks for the replies. I will give MSS a try again. Maybe it's time I gave gambling at the Nugget a try. I just don't think I gamble enough ($25/hand blackjack) to get free rooms and free food. Fitz gives me that all day.

Have only played video poker (lots of it I thought) at MSS but only get two nights free. Maybe adding blackjack there will get me a little more.

Don.

Have a great trip!!!
Glad you picked MSS over Fitzgeralds. Better choice by far. Especially the rooms.
