AC musings 10/22 - 10/26

We just visited AC for 5 days this past week. We all had a great time, and stayed at 3 different hotels:

10/22 Harrahs Marina, stayed in comped Waterfront tower room, overlooking the bay. Room was comfortable, 2 queen beds, smoking. We went to the casino and with my small $10 free play, I hit for $300 to begin our trip. We played all night, and just had a good time. My game of choice is video keno. The next morning, my sister and I went to the buffet for breakfast, mine was comped. I took her to see the indoor pool as she had not seen it before, and there were about 8 people in the pool at that time.

10/23 Taj Mahal: she had a free 2 night stay, although we only booked one night. We played in the casino, and I had a minor $100 hit on my keno machine. She played penny slots and came away with a $200 win. Dinner was at the noodle bar there, really good food, as we all had the hibachi dinners of shrimp and veggies with white rice. We headed next door to the Resorts for some play. I hit nothing there. I have never liked this casino and still find nothing special about it.

10/24 - 10/26 Tropicana Hotel and Casino: this is our usual place to stay and play. We both had room offers here, free play money on Friday and Sunday, and a free gift on Saturday (wine cooler bottle holders, and electric wine bottle cork screws). We get mailings every week with similar gift offers. We always ask for the North Tower for our rooms, as they are right off the casino floor. The west tower is always filled with 20 somethings who are there to drink and party. In fact, many times we have seen 8 - 10 people file into a room, party for a few hours, drinking beers, then heading out to the clubs in the Quarter - only to come back from the clubs at 3 or 4 am and scream to each other in the halls. I refuse the West tower if they try to offer it to me. We took a ride over to the Golden Nugget, and I was able to hit $400 on a keno machine there. My sister loves the penny slots, and was able to turn $40 into $200 so she was happy. While at the Tropicana, we did enjoy their surf and turf buffet (we each had 2 free buffet passes), and our usual Hooter's chicken wings. Those are A must every trip!

the casinos were not crowded, except for the Tropicana, which packs them in beginning on Friday nights through Sunday morning. They have a gold mine with those clubs and restaurants in "the Quarter". We also had fun shopping at the outlet stores, and I managed to come home with a new Coach purse with my winnings. That's always a good thing. Not much going on out on the boardwalk. Of course, with the casino closures, you no longer have the foot traffic going by the Tropicana to get to the Atlantic City Club or Trump Plaza as both are closed. It's sad to see what it looks like now. I did notice more and more homeless people, and just people who looked down and out.

I probably won't go back there now until the spring. I hope someone purchases the Revel and reopens it as a casino and I hope the Taj will remain open. Time will tell. Thanks for reading.

Enjoyed your report. Glad you had some luck.
Thank you. I just there were more postings about AC, they really seem to have dropped off.
