Free 50 minute charter flight (Sun Country) to the Beau, cannot turn it down. Free alcoholic drinks on the flight TO Biloxi. However, flight attendant serving drinks was so slow we were about to land before she got to us. Another attendant came and hustled things along, so everyone got at least one drink.
A funny thing happened at TSA: Check in at the Sun Country counter was quick and easy, and I didn't notice until I got upstairs in the Security line that "they" (Sun Country, presumably) had MISSPELLED MY NAME on the boarding pass. Oh, no! Would this be trouble?
I considered options:
- Run back down to the SC counter to ask/have it corrected? Could they even do that?
- Proactively point out to the TSA checker that THEY misspelled my name, that I am the right person, the lady whose photo is on the DL?
Hell, no, said my husband. So I said not a word. The TSA guy didn't seem to notice and passed me on through. Whew!
Hubby had decided, for the first time ever, to carry on a small bag. When we both got through the scanners and on our way I noted he didn't have the bag. We turned around to see a TSA guy picking it up from the bin. The guy had to go through the whole bag, and in the end tossed hubby's can of shave cream. Hubby was really pissed, but I think more embarrassed than anything that he had left the bag behind. He isn't accustomed to carrying on, was only thinking of his shoes, laptop, etc. I bit my tongue to not laugh at him.
Highlights:
1. Got my favorite blueberry lemon drop martini from the Eight75 bar at the Beau, compliments of friend's My Vegas coupon. The first time ever having one (previous trip), it made a glass and a half of drink, almost two full drinks. Good thing I'd had this before, as this time the gal was about to discard the remainder from the shaker. I said "Oh, I think there is more left over if you will please pour it in a glass for me", which she willingly did. So I walk away with a martini glass filled to the rim and a short glass with the remainder. I'm sure not about to leave the extra behind! I had to suck some from the martini glass pretty quicklyto keep from spilling, so on to a nice casino high!
2. Room overlooked the ocean, as requested. Upon walking in, I noted the window to be totally splotchy with salt water. Boo. Then saw a "Dear Guest" notice that they would be cleaning the windows the next day, and they did. The notice was to warn us that some window washer could catch us in nature's own. Ha. The ocean view is a big thing for me.
3. Friend and I mad a killing on Dragon Rising machines on Monday. But, they killed us on Tuesday, but that's how it goes.
4. Three excellent breakfast's in the buffet. Omelets the first two days, wonderful. I always treat myself to a glazed crueller doughnut each day there. Never hungry enough for lunch. Two suppers in the Cafe also (buffet lines too long). Excellent Reuben sandwich (we split) first night. Chicken pot pie and club sandwich the second night, both really good.
5. I got a 4K Royal Flush playing DB, which I called my "get well special." Saved the budget for the next trip (Vegas next week!).
LOWlights:
- We came in Sunday evening, around 8pm, and battled a swarm of screaming toddlers in the hotel lobby and in the Cafe. Had not noticed so many kids at the Beau before. A lady said this is because of the cirque-type show they have, and everyone brings their kiddies in to see it on the weekend. It was our dinner time by the time the evening show lets out. Honestly, people, do the early show if you have little kids, please.
- A lady I had played next to on those dollar VPs came to tell me (while I was losing) that there was a quarter progressive Royal up to over $2000 toward the "back" of the casino. She said "you can't get a seat". I ran to find that bank, and one seat was open! I sat down, and in about 2 minutes a lady next to me hit the Royal! She was so happy, had to be glad for her.
- We only made it to Hard Rock, as far as other casinos besides the Beau. I couldn't hit a thing, while my friend did well bouncing from machine to machine, dollar reels.
But none of that was any kind of tragedy.
Trip home was flawless (including my name being spelled correctly on the boarding pass). We even got TSA PRE which makes hubby happy, doesn't have to take off shoes, remove laptop, etc.
Had a lot of fun. Thanks for reading.
