Well, we were there for a week in Feb, as we do every year, so this might be a little out of date. We only ate at buffets and only at casinos, so take that into consideraton. We ate frequently at Isle of Capri---it was cheap, something like $7 for lunch and $11 for dinner--and we found it quite good. Always several main-dish selections that were tasty. Wife liked the side dishes---typically southern---as well. Also always included a sea food option. It also helped that we had ACG 2/1 coupons for there.
We also ate at Beau once on Senior Day, when it was 2/1 or half price---we ate late breakfast and it was very good. Of coure the discount made it quite affordable, otherwise is was pricey. Wide, wide selection of items well prepared and well presented.
Have eaten at the Boomtown many times---also on their Senior Day, which is half price, I think--and it may be our favorite. Many others we have discussed this with are of the opinion that it is as good as there is in the area. Typically several BBQ selections, shrimp, and other "southern" items, well prepared.
We have eaten at the Palace several times when we used to go on a week bus tour and stay there and it was just not very good then. Bland, slim selections, no atmosphere----but I hasten to add that we have not been there since the remodel, so that may all different now.
One day we drove down to Treasure Bay---on their Senior Day promotion (are you catching a pattern here)--and it was small--both the casino and the buffet---but is was very good as well.
In past years we have eaten at HRock--they have an early bird special price, and I think they run a Senior Promotion some day also--but we did not eat there this year. In the past is has been well worth the money.
Never eaten at IP or the Island View in Gulfport, although we have gambled at both. Sorry, no evaluation of those.
So you see, we put a high priority on getting a good deal, especially using our age to catch a break. Hope this is at least a beginning for you.
