Caesars Windsor

Some new policies with check in and not for the better. We just got back from Englebert Humperdink and he was great what a showman I was leery going in but I would def go to see him again.

After standing in line for the room we were told we couldn't check in til after 4. unless you are a diamond or higher. I tried to verify a blocked connecting room and was told come back after 4 we won't do anything til them. Ok 4:10 and the line is blocks long 40 minutes later got to the front. They got our 2 rooms while I got luggage from bell desk. Oh no ours wasn't ready but friends was , not a big deal. We went up to dump all the luggage in one room and notice a do not disturb sign on "our connecting" room , the maid was cleaning next door and I went to talk to her. Nope she just cleaned "our connecting " high priority and the people moved in. WHAT? Called to the front desk and got the runaround .

People were very hot under the collar standing in those long lines. We were mad no promised room. We left the room about 5:30 and no lines .. I stopped at the concierge and asked if my room was ready, no record of me. OK>>>>>>>>>>>> 3 lines later and I still don't have my room. I was starving so we left for dinner . Man they are really messed up. The PR person directing the huge check in line said it was a new policy because people were checking in at 8 am and it messed up the maid. WHAT///// I can see not allowing folks to check in to early, but after standing in the first line don't you think they could have at least taken our CC info to cut the wait at 4 , but nope. Telling EVERONE to come back at 4 was just plain stupid

PS they also down graded the bath products 1/2 the size and generic.
The border people coming back into US always grill us why we play in Canada and should keep our play in US.
Always asking how much $ we take in and how much we bring back.
We were there Saturday as well and found this out. From now on we won't come til 5. Their loss.
I've never been asked by the border patrol why I gamble in Windsor, but if I am, I'll just tell them it's because Windsor is nonsmoking and there's no way I'll gamble in the smokey Detroit casinos anymore

When I went last November, I was also asked why I chose to gamble in Canada instead of the US. It didn't help that I was there on a business trip, and wasn't even from Detroit.

Regardless, the US border guy was all pissy with me and reaaaaally stalling to let me back in, trying to think up all sorts of dumb questions, so I simply asked him if he was refusing me the right to re-enter my own country. He suddenly handed me back my passport and let me in...

If they give you too much run-around, maybe try that?

If you do a Google search, you'll find a lot of experiences and tips from fellow travelers. Apparently, there are only certain questions that border patrol can legally ask, and I don't recall the list including why you gambled in a foreign country instead of the US.

We are spending this Saturday night there, and I will avoid that at all costs. That's stupid. I have been there several times and always have been able to check-in immediately. The Border guys sometimes are a pain, but most of the time going they don't even check our passports. We have been asked several times if we won anything.... I always say no not very lucky..
