Diamond Lounge at Harrahs Atlantic City

I wonder if AC offers more in order to be competitive with the other properties.

3 years ago I was in AC for family stuff and was able to spend an hour or so on the boardwalk exploring casinos. I used my diamond card to upgrade at Trump Plaza (for the free play). Part of the upgrade included entry into their lounge. At the time, the offerings were similar to what you all say AC DL's offer. At the time, it cost $10 in comp dollars for entry into Trump Plaza's lounge.
MissL7777, you have it backwards. The other properties offer lounges that serve meals to compete with Harrah's. They did it first. In AC it makes sense because of the logistics of their visitors. Most of their customers live within a day tripper drive...coming from the Philadelphia, New York, Maryland areas. They offer their best guests a light meal to fill their bellies so that driving there for a day makes for a more fulfilling outing. Sometimes that free buffet costs $1000 by the time you go home.

The "freeloaders" (a poor term for them) were the people that are typically locals, or short drive in customers. They'd achieve diamond either by doing Diamond in a day in January. Then they'd visit the diamond lounge with a guest daily every day for the rest of the year without playing any other dime.

Another group of so called "freeloaders" are the daily trippers that play a very minimal amount each day and by the end of the year rack up enough points for diamond.

Locals that play every day for even 300 days a year need less than 40 points per day on average. Playing Jacks or Better video poker they'll average less than $2 per day in losses, and then 2 people get to eat and drink for free.

I'm not saying I agreed with the $10 charge they implemented because I don't. Especially when they did it with little to no notice in the middle of a year AFTER many people had already obtained their diamond status that year, or the year before under the grounds they'd have access to the lounges.

With that said, there is no other city in the country that has anywhere near the offerings in their diamond lounges that AC has. Even when Las Vegas had real food, it didn't come close to what AC offered.
