East of Mississippi trip plans - July into August.

John and I plan a trip, leaving July 18th for how ever long it takes us. We first plan to hit Pennsylvania casino near Lancaster PA, then to West Virginia to see some casinos in that area. Then to Tunica MS and New Orleans/Biloxi area. Next stop will be Tampa Florida to visit John's mother and see Hard Rock. Next stop will be South Carolina, Maryland (craving some crab cakes) and on to Atlantic City and Connecticut is our final stop before home to Massachusetts.

Anyone who has some tips about these areas, I would love to hear them!!! This year our trip is East of the Mississippi, and next year, we are planning a West of the Mississippi trip starting in Montana and ending in Vegas.

We have as much time as we will need, as neither of us have to be back to work until September!!!
Janice,

I would think that Jon (Sionow) would probably be able to give you some advice as he drove cross-country last year with a similar itinerary.

Edited to add: Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, etc. will be hot and humid that time of the year.
Janice that sounds like a really, really fun trip you have scheduled, ............. especially the part about

"We have as much time as we will need, as neither of us have to be back to work until September!!!"

Will you be posting some kind of daily TR, or just one huge one after you get home ???

Rick

Keep on Rock'n
Janice, i live in the general area and there happens to be somewhat of a war between the states so to speak if you dont have a players card at any penna or west virginia places go to wheeling island 1st good blackjack no good video poker then go to the meadows washington pa about a 40 min drive show them wheeling card and get free money they have ok video poker and great blackjack sounds like a fun trip i might even be at one or more of those places at the same time good luck!!!

We just got back from a trip to Beau Rivage in Biloxi.
Be aware that their airconditioning is very effective. Take a sweater or long sleeve tops!
It may be 100 outside but it was 68 with a strong cold downdraft inside.
Road trip!!! LOL
sounds dreamy- track gas prices for us, huh?
Should be big differences- Jersey being the cheapest.
Will you stay at Casino hotels???
Thanks for the tip, Casinochipreader!!! Will do that.

I will gladly post gas prices as I go along. I will have lappy with me, so if internet access at hotels, I will post as I go.

I plan to stay at some casino hotels - get comped rooms via Harrahs due to April stay at Ballys in Vegas. Since we are on the move the entire time, will probably just hit a Best Western or Motel 6 along the way, easy to find from a highway. In Tunica, I will book Harrahs rooms, and AC will be at the Tropicana for sure. Since it is hot and summer, I hope to get a room at the Hard Rock in Tampa.

We are also traveling with a slide on truck camper, as some nights will be camping nights, in between stops and for just a day or two of no driving. Hubby likes to camp, and I am fine as long as it has a sink, stove, microwave, tv, etc. Many campgrounds also offer internet access, so I should be okay there also.

Looking forward to this great adventure!!
There are 2 nice casino resorts along your route that are worth checking out .... Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceberg, IN (Cincinatti) ...and the Horseshoe near Louisville. Both have nice hotels, player friendly casinos and quality food options.

West Virgina Casinos are subpar for the most part but its beautiful country to drive through.
If you come into pittsburgh you can go to the rivers casino then go to the meadows and wheeling and if you wish about an hour from wheeling is mountainteer racetrack and casino in chester wv.
Thank you all for the tips. I appreciate it.

This week was in Lake George NY camping with the family. We had a great time.

We did visit Saratoga Raceway and played the slots. They have some unusual keno games, which gladly helped themselves to $100 of my bucks. Then I earned 25.00 free slot play, went to a penny machine, turned 25 into 60 and cashed out. Then put 40 away in the wallet, and went to horrible pay VP machine, played bonus poker and hit quad Aces for 100.00. So I left there 40 bucks ahead Not too bad for a night's entertainment. Also had the buffet for a deal of 6.99 which was very tasty.

We leave on Monday for Pennsylvania. I am told that Hollywood casino in Grantville is a 6 hour drive. And the journey begins!!
