For those interested in Harrah's Cherokee

Was at cherokee last weekend. The lowest 3card poker table was a $10. I asked dealer about $5 tables - he said they don't offer $5 tables ever??? we did see a knock down drag out brawl between 2 women late on Friday night by the bar as you come down the ecalators from the parking deck (right by nonsmoking area). It was fierce...took forever for security to arrive.
Hey, I was there Friday night - sorry I missed that crazy fight!

And so glad you liked the story
My wife and I are going up Friday night. Has anyone eaten at Brio? How is it?
I have eaten at Brio twice now. and I LOVE it.
the lobster bisque is wonderful - i've had it both times. My husband and I really enjoyed the restaurant...the food, the ambiance and the price is reasonable as well. Its on the 2nd floor and if you look out the windows you'll see they actually grow their own herbs on the roof.

We highly recommend Brio...it's a great chance to get away from the noise for awhile and relax with a nice glass of wine and great food. We've had the 8 oz filet both times and split it, 4 oz each is plenty. shared a house salad as well.

Sorry you missed that fight...it was the most excitement I've seen in a long time. Actually it did kind of scare me...was playing late a night alone and was a bit surprised it took so long for security to break it up...and then the women were not thrown out...but continue to bicker and yell at each other while being kept apart...finally they managed to get back together and that's when they removed one of the women, at least from the casino area

I second GWTW on the Brio. It's the best eatery at Harrahs Cherokee
Thanks for the reviews of Brio, we had a good meal and a relaxing hour. The food was good and the service was friendly but poorly trained. Our waiter did bring the first good martini That I have had in Cherokee, something that is still unavailable in the casino.

We had stopped going during the dark days of construction when the restaurants were closed and we had to drive to less then average meals in Cherokee. We have not tried Ruth's Chris but assume it is good as the others in the chain. I am not a fan of Paula Deans with it's food per-assembled in a plant in Savanna.

It is easy to excuse Cherokee restaurants because it is remotely located but both Asheville and nearby Highlands have sophisticated restaurants with talented chefs and skilled servers.

At 170 miles away, Harrah's is by far our closest casino. As long as we keep getting offers we will drive up and we did have a lovely autumn weekend in the mountains and next month we will enjoy great gambling and fine restaurants in Vegas.

PS: I'm sure we would we would have enjoyed Brio even more but we have recently eaten in two New York Italian restaurants where the menus were merely suggestions and the chefs and waiters were Italian and the ingredients were sublime.
Talked to a Cherokee slot attendant over the weekend....

Lock n' Roll slots and Pot-of-Gold machines are schedule to be removed from the floor soon.

About the only thing left from when the place opened. Times have changed, the casino is appealing to a different type of player now that real table games have arrived.

That's too bad. I've won many jackpots on the Pot of Gold machines at Cherokee. I enjoy playing them.
Aren't Lock and Roll slots Class II machines? I was there last night and noticed there are still a handful of Cherokee Raffle Reel slots on the floor - thought they'd all be converted by now.

Any word on when the "real dealers" arrive in the poker room?
Did you notice if the Pot o Gold machines are still on the floor at Cherokee? I'm so addicted to them.
