Foxwoods vs. Mohegan Sun

Headed to Conn. next week. Anyone with recent insight/preferences on either property. Going to gamble not to stay at hotel....staying about 15 min away. thanks in advance.
Both are great properties. Foxwoods is more spread out, with more individual casinos. Mohegan tends to have better VP pay tables, and some really good restaurants on the 2nd floor of the promenade between the larger 2 play areas (casino of the earth, casino of the sky). If you have the opportunity, stop in at both of them, follow the signs as they are not all that far apart, 10 - 15 min drive is all. Sometimes Mohegan will give you a match of any casino offer you have in NJ or RI. If you are there on a Friday during the summer, they give away free tee shirts at Mohegan sun with a players card, go early in the day to get one. Also check out Mohegan Sun.com for specials.

Most of all, have fun and win big.
Mohegan (MS) may have better Video Poker (VP) overall such as 99.95% return Pick'Em at the $1.00 level and up and Full Pay (FP) 9/6 JoB at the 25c level and up, as well as some FP 8/5 Bonus poker at the 50c level (See vpFREE2 website), BUT you will receive no Player's Club Points for any of the 99.0%+ return games above. So that makes these games much less attractive as it is not just the lack of Player's Club Points you don't get, but also any other perks that you might otherwise possibly get such as freeplay offers, 2X Points (2 X 0 = 0), higher tier level perks, reduced hotel rates, etc., etc.

At Foxwoods (FW), they do not have any 99.95% VP, but do have FP 9/6 VP at the $1.00 and up level and you will get Player's Club points at 0.29% of coin in. They also have 9/7 DB at 99.10%. (see vpFREE2)

Both have a wide variety of good restaurants at many price points and buffet as well as shopping and entertainment venues.

As far as table games, both have 3/2 blackjack, but they now hit soft 17, which benefits the house and reduces the player's chances of winning those hands.

For inexpensive meals at MS, the two places I enjoy are Chief's Deli (matzo ball soup and corned beef sandwiches) and Bobby Flay's Burgers.

Check both website's for ongoing and daily specials on food, entertainment, etc.

I am more familiar with Foxwoods which is much larger and spread out than Mohegan. FW has a variety of table games in both the Foxwoods casinos and the former MGM (now Fox Tower) casino. I play $10 BJ and have never had trouble finding an open table although rules favor the house. There's a huge variety of slots in all denominations, $10 (and higher) craps, a lively poker room and a large Sports Book. Depending on the day and time you'll be there, there are some good mid-week specials at higher-end restaurants, plus several budget-friendly options, and a good buffet. I think you get a discount at the buffet with a Players card. Shopping is just so-so unless you're into Rolex and Prada. Both FW and MGM have excellent spa services (although I am partial to Foxwoods vs MGM). There are only two VP bars at FW, one at MGM, and if that's your game, it is sometimes impossible to find an open seat. Service at all the bars is excellent - beverage service on the floor has been cut back a bit.

No matter which one (or both) you visit, hope you have a great time!

Mohegan by far has better restaurants..along with some great casual eats. Pepe's Pizza of New Haven has a restaurant there! Some of the best pizza in America! As far as gambling, both offer everything. All table games, craps, roulette...every slot you can think of. I hate vidoe poker, it's not a draw for me. Both casinos are only 7 miles apart, about a 10-15 minute drive. Foxwoods has done some remodeling. Both have great comedy clubs and now offer club style activites. but if you're not familiar...Connecticut law permits no alcohol after 2am...last call really is last call.
I live in CT and used to go to both alot. Probably the same amount tmes and spent the close to the same $ in both. I haven't been to either in a year. MS sends me $10 free play offers and no free rooms. while Foxwoods sends me free room offers, $45 free play, and other good offers. I will drive the extra 15 min to give Foxwoods my play from now on

Both are huge complexes.

Far better shopping, dining and atmosphere at Mohegan.

Mohegan Sun is more like a Vegas type casino.

thanks all for the know-how..... Looking forward to seeing these two massive casinos.
Check out NETimeGambling.com for coverage of both casinos, as well as any casino coverage in New England. There is also a listing of entertainment, and a dining link for both casinos.
Curious for any feedback. I have not been to FW for well over a decade because i enjoy $5 BJ and Craps FW never offered that and from what i hear still do not. FW never had any playable VP for under the dollar level. I do understand FW is more generous towards perks points etc. The comment regarding no perks for VP at MS is not entirely true as you earn status points and these earn you free rooms. I generally get a free room and the most i have ever paid is 99 a night during the week. So given the above i choose MS do you agree
