Gold strike Tunica

Have an offer of 3 ights thru M club. My teenagers want to see Graceland which is not too far. Any advice if we should or should not stay there?
the rooms aren't super luxurious or super impressive, but they are fine.
Recently upgraded rooms---small tub/shower, not a soaking tub unless you are under 5'10---small indoor pool and hot tub---I stay there 3-4 times a year and enjoy it just fine
Stayed there several times over the last couple years. No complaints at all. Rooms are nice, but pretty much standard. If you want a tub, be sure to stay away from the handicapped rooms. Shower only, no tub.

As is typical for Tunica, comps are fairly easy to come by. Craps games have (I believe) 10 times odds. BJ is all 3/2, are far as I've seen. I'm no expert on VP, but I believe Hosreshoe and Roadhouse have better games.

For some reason, I've gotten better offers lately from Gold Strike then the HET properties. I get a comped room anytime at Gold Strike, but can hardly even get into Horseshoe or Roadhouse. Not that I would exactly jump at staying at Roadhouse anyway.

re: the VP comment. Roadhouse yes, Horseshoe NO. think 8/5 DDB at $5 denomination.
it is not a short drive to graceland. There is not a lot to do in the immediate area of graceland.
Beale street is several miles away, and not a place for kids at night. Having said that, enjoy some of the best barbeque in the land at leonards, or interstate, neely's or the rendesvous if you can stand the actual smoke your 'cue has been soakin' up. Enjoy your stay at the gold strike, the tallest building in the whole da// state! And Karen, as usual, is right.
leonards???
yep- heard of it on the food channel, then checked it now, now cant get enuff. Used to be the worlds biggest drive in restaurant. Off mt moriah, SE part of town. Has a buffet at lunch. Not safe to drive back to tunica after eating all i want at lunch, I found out. Have the onion rings. hope you enjoy it, too.
I have to disagree about nothing to do near Graceland. Some of the many activities are...dodging stray bulletts...avoiding crack addicts.... Not a good area for the faint of heart after dark-thirty.

On the subject of Memphis food, I have a question. Someone told me of a great hole in the wall restaurant a few years ago. I think it was on, or just off, Hwy 61 just north of the 61/I 55 interchange. I never got bold enough to go look for it. Not exactly a high class area there either. I don't remember the name. Anyone been there, or know of it?

you are probably thinking about Interstate BBQ. It is on South 3rd, which becomes hwy 61 as you cross the state line into MS, it's just a hair north of I55. among the best BBQ on the planet. If you are especially interested in ambience, it is not for you
