greenhorn in AC

Thanks to some questions a couple of months ago, I have some great info and links for my first trip to AC. Now i'd appreciate more info.
i'm going to AC with friends the first weekend in Feb. Super Bowl weekend. Perhaps a bad time to go as far as weather, but, in all humble-ness, it's my 7* annual trip, and early Feb is it.
As I understand it, Harrah's is the nicest of the HET properties, so that's what i'll request. I'm going to buy two additional rooms for friends.
Are all 4 HET (or Caesars...whatever..) properties in AC walking distance from each other? If we have to fly into Philly, that's not far, right? Where should we try to watch (and lay $ on) the Super Bowl?
I don't even know what else to ask.
No- Harrah's is way far away in what we called "The Marina"

Bally's is connected to Caesars.

Showboat is between Harrah's & Bally's.
You can walk to Showboat from Bally's/Caesars but you, no way can walk to Showboat from Harrahs.
HET has a Diamond Shuttle bus which leaves often (Maybe 3X a hour) but I hate it/ there are lines and it's cold and I hate lines...feel like cattle...Mooo
but I have used it twice and it's better than nothing.
The Jitney stops right by the diamond shuttle at Marina Harrah's so the jitney comes every 3 to 5 minutes and it's $2.00 so take that.
Make sure you go to all the DL's in all the properties- it's high end complete meals, you can't beat the Ocean views and fireplaces and oak 30 foot long bars. Have a cappachino for me- sunset is the best.

Heck darling, Google Mapquest to see the distance, not walk able

Yes, Harrah's is the premire property.

PS Philly is an hour away from AC by car/bus,etc.
Blinky,

No sports betting in Atlantic City, so get your Super Bowl bets in elsewhere.

Atlantic City International Airport is about 15 minutes out of the city and is a smaller airport making it easier to get in and out of than Philly's airport. (or so I have been told.)

February can be cold and raw on the Boardwalk with winds coming off of the ocean. So, it won't be extremely crowded in AC. If you want to be able to walk from casino to casino, you might want to stay at Caesars in the Centurion Tower. The rooms are pretty nice there too. Just don't stay in the Temple Tower there. That way you have Ballys casinos that you can stay indoors to access. Trump Plaza is right next door to Caesars and is about 25 feet away.

Most of the AC casinos have Super Bowl viewing parties set up in their function rooms. You might want to check about them when you make your reservation.
Great info. Thanks Noahcat and Flip. No sports book???!!!!! Wow. Had no idea.

by the way, i'll be with 3 other friends. Do the AC Diamond Lounges allow for 1 guest per entry? Are there still 7* lounges and is the guest policy the same?
More questions: Now that i've found a map, are Harrah's, Borgata and Trump w/in walking distance of each other? I want to see Borgata. I think I'm going to request a stay at Caesars. If Harrah's and Borgata are not walking distance (and therefore not a shuttle-type ride Caesars-Harrah's), should we just take a Caesars-Borgata cab? For that matter, is the taxi situation at AC casinos similar to the LV cab situation in terms of easy access? (I'm still trying to wrap my head around the "no sports book in AC" info, so I figure it can't hurt to ask what may be real basic questions.) We're very excited about this AC trip. You have no idea how helpful and appreciated your info is.
Oh, another question: Could you recommend a restaurant or two (or more)? As for buffets, I gather the one at Bally's AC may be the best, right? Of the 4 of us meeting in AC, 3 of us pause the gaming in LV long enough to plan a gathering for a really nice meal. (The 4th among us moved from our city to the northeast, has never been to LV, is a starving artist, and is just happy to have a meal.) Heck, one member of this crew is part-owner of a wildly successful, upscale restaurant in our city. We've had really memorable, fun experiences in LV at places like Bouchon, Mesa Grill, Border Grille, Carnevino, Mon Ami Gabi, Firefly, Tao, Lotus of Siam...so many other places we plan to go. Where should we go in AC that will leave us, weeks or years later, talking about the place(s) with smiles on our faces (which, in all honesty, usually happens just because we were all together)? Too babbly? Too much info? I may come back and edit this...
Oh, also, i've never heard the word "jitney" before, Noahcat. Looked it up. Understand it's an early 20th century slang word for "nickel" (which was the fare at the time). Still am clueless where the jitney goes, because mostly street names are used. Am more than happy to fork over $2.25 if it goes casino to casino.

oh, no. I'm not sitting up googling AC stuff. Not excited about this trip at all....
Jitney's...
the term came from the Jeeps the G.I.'s left in the Phillipines, etc..
they are small rickity buses that follow a certain route- it's an AC experiance. no shocks, no air/heat-- should do it one time.

You want to eat at Borgata- at least once. they have 9 stellar places.....Foodie heaven.
you also want to eat at Borgata buffet once (any meal!)- show them your Diamond/7* card and get an upgarded Black label card and $100.00 in freeplay (ur welcome)

AC is very different than Vegas-- pretend you are in an alternate universe/ different, not better or worst- different. Not every one is gracious or polite...New Yawk/Jersey charm we call it "Character"
Unlike Flip,
I would stay at Harrah's Marina- the Jitney has a number 3 that just loops the 3 casinos in the marina so your ride is 4 minutes. A cab is $6.00 from Borgata to Harrah's-- if you go to "the Strip" which is the Boardwalk (alternate universe) it can be no more than $12.00- (It's the law) so you see it adds up.
View the Boardwalk from the DL's- it's gonna be brutal winds, snow and cold.

Stay at Harrah's - go to Borgata's webpage- you'll end up there more than once- it's a better, stellar Bellagio.
Every hotel has a steakhouse. Caesars has Nero's and many others, plenty of fine dining
Bally's Virginia City Buffet isn't all that.
I prefer Caesars but haven't been since my beloved Big Babe died.

DL:, one guest free- any others i think is $10.00 worth of RC-- the 7*'s has a nook in the Caesars DL-- like a VIP room. It's nice, I think you get your own butler.
I'm excited for you!!
Hi Blinky,

From what I have read on the AC's public library site you are correct. The first jitneys in Atlantic City were in 1915. I think the first jeeps were in WWII, so I don't think that's where the name came from.
Jitneys
They are currently in the process of replacing the old jitneys with new CNG burning ones that should offer a much more comfortable ride. I know that the process started during the summer, so I don't know how far along they are.
The Borgata is the best buffet in Atlantic City. They also have some of the best restaurants with Bobby Flay Steak, Fornelletto, and the Old Homestead.
Harrah's has one of the better buffets as well. There's a McCormick & Shmick there.
Mia at Caesars is supposed to be excellent, there's Morton's as well and there's some good choices at the Pier as well.
I really like Roberto's at Trump Plaza for Italian food.

As far as I know, Nevada is the only state that has sports betting.
