Gun Lake

Anyone live near the new casino? If so VPFREE2 will need a volunteer to maintain its database. Will that be you?
Anyone who goes to Gun Lake can submit an update to vpFREE2.com. Just click on "Send Update" on the Gun Lake page and tell them what needs to be added or changed.
I know Gun Lake has made a big difference in the Soaring Eagle, they have made a huge preemptive strike. Shell and I will head there the end of the month to compare it with Firekeepers and the Eagle, I just hope they will bring more good vp here. It is getting to be a real good place (Mid-Michigan) for vp and I would love to see it get better..........Rick
It's 21 minutes from my driveway to the casino parking lot so I'll take a run at the inventory. I won't be there right at opening, but might shoot for a week later. The Sunday news article at http://www.mlive.com/travel/index.ssf/2011/02/gun_lake_casino_where_everybod.html said they are anticipating a large crowd so they are setting up a welcome center in the parking lot for people to sign up for the card and "wait to enter the casino"

Ok, I made it to Gun Lake today and here is what I reported to VPFREE:

Best game available: (10) $1 8/5 JOB progressives in upright MG near Sandhill Cafe. The meter was over $5K today. All other JOB in the building is .25, .50 7/5 JOB or $1, $5 8/5 JOB non-progressives. Other games are the same junk paytables 6/5 BP, 9/5 DB, etc.

Slot club is $2 of VP = 1 pt and 500 pts = $1 in slot play or comps to food court, Sandhill Cafe or gift shop. You can pay with points at all of those places. They have a casino wide progressive, like Stations, where each level has to hit by a certain amount and when the big one hits, everyone gets something if your card is inserted.

I was there early, around 6:30 a.m. and it was moderately busy. When I left around noon it was packed. All of the .25 machines were taken and the $1/$5 progressive bank was almost full, mostly with people playing one coin at a time and grumbling about no good machines being open. Aisles are narrow so there is a lot of chair bumping.

Typical Indian casino for Michigan - no comped drinks, but you can use the complimentary beverage station, buy alcohol at the bar or from the cocktail waitresses. I bought a Heineken from the CW and it cost $4. I gave the CW a $20 and said just give me $15 back, please. She fumbled with her money, handed me 2 fives and a 1, then said "I'm not too good with math". Um, I just said, give me $15, please. How much math is there in that?!?!?

Food court is typical shopping mall, Villa Pizza, Tim Horton's (coffee, pastries), Johnny Rockets. Sandhill Cafe is like any other coffee shop. That's it.

Funny thing when I first arrived. I had brought $500 in 20's from my ATM. I went to the cashier and asked to exchange the 20's for 5 $100 bills. She said they ran out and didn't have any. After closing my dropped jaw, I said "there are no $100 bills at all in the cage?". She went to the back and then confirmed it. I guess they don't plan on anyone winning today.

I'll stick to Soaring Eagle or Four Winds, thank you very much.
