Harrah's Resort AC - Trip Comments

Taking advantage of a free plane ride and 3 nights of rooms to see AC for the first time. Rooms are at Harrahs Resort, so not exactly where the action is, but a couple of questions for you old timers.

Checked trip advisor and noted many complaints about the long check-in...do they have Diamond checkin?
Is there any kind of shuttle service to the other properties or do we have to cab/bus it?

Also lots of complaints about cleanliness of rooms, but we are not afraid to complain. We are also staying Wed to Sat, so shouldn't be a problem about changing rooms if necessary.
Captain,
Yes, there is a diamond check-in. If you are not diamond, they line is very long.
Harrahs does have a shuttle bus that goes between the other Harrahs properties & the boardwalk. Harrahs is on the bay.
The diamond lounge is a hell of a lot better that any in Vegas & food is OK (depends on what they are serving) & located next to Bill's Bar & Burger.
The rooms are OK & clean. The Waterfront tower is the newest & Atrium tower suites are nice.
I have no complaints & was there last Saturday.
Umpire - thanks for the update...its looking better and better. Especially the Diamond Lounge.
If your free plane ride is a junket, they should have you pre-checked into your room. We went there on a junket several years ago and yes the rooms were very nice. The Diamond lounge charges reward credits unless you have earned X amount of points. There is more posted about that in the forums. As far as other casinos on the boardwalk there is a Jitney service to get there or cab.

Ditto what Umpire said, except I wasn't there last Saturday. LOL.

IMO the food is better than okay and really is like a full buffet, with multiple meat and seafood/fish choices. It's probably better in quality and amount and variety of choices than many buffets in AC, and it's the Diamond Lounge . . . . Enjoy!
The shuttle is available. It's on a schedule I believe. If you want to venture over to the boardwalk, and missed the shuttle, check out the JITNEY, it runs a continuous loop. There is a small fee. But it stops pretty much everywhere. Have fun.

Appreciate all your replys, sounds like its worth paying $20 for my wife and I to visit the D lounge. We are on a junket, so pre check-in sounds good. Consider it a sight seeing visit as we have never been there and the shuttles sound like the way to go. Who knows, may even gamble (we'll see how this weekends trip to LV Ceasers goes).
Captain Bill,
Have done 10 or so Junkets and they always have had a special line for the Junket/Airport bus's to pick up your key pack. Harrahs is the nicest hotel in AC of the 4 properties IMHO. Diamond lounges do charge $10 per person in reward credits only, no cash, or used to be free a few years ago if you had over 25K tier. Now? Do check the hours of operation posted for your d Lounge visit. Can normally do as a meal. Shuttle bus used to pick you up at the same place at Harrahs, that you will get dropped off by the airport bus. I have gotten impatient with the untimeley shuttle, and hopped a taxi or Jitney as our junkets are only onsite for about 48 hours, depending on how Harrahs air is planned. Best VP inventory is at Ballys but I understand they have been adjusting this as of late. We also like the Ballys D lounge the best for the nice ocean view. Enjoy!
I stay at Harrahs about once every other month, coming in on a Tues. or Wed.

1. Rooms have always been clean, definitely nice by AC standards.
2. I am only Platinum, but mid week I have never had really long check in lines.
3. IMHO the restaurants are under- rated. Luke Palladinos Italian restaurant is very good. Reflections Café is excellent. The Buffet is one of the only ones I go to . That line is long.
The bar at Bills Burger Bar is way overpriced for liquor. Don't go there for drinks.

4. I don't know what your deal is on the Junket, but some general information. In AC the hotels do not waive the resort fee for Diamond card, or any card.

5. The local Jitney is $2.25 per person each ride. I take them in daylight. If you are in a small group, a cab is better. Cab rides are a maximum of $13 in city limits.

6. Check out Borgata and Revel .

On check-in they had a little podium set up near the door...took about 2 minutes. Room was very nice, almost a mini-suite, with a great view of the bay. The Diamond Loung was excellent, but check on the hours its open. This hotel/casino is on a par with Vegas strip properties. The check-in lines on Thursday night were huge (at least 200 people), on Friday it was slightly less. By 7:00 they were very short on both nights. The longest line for Diamond was about 8 people.

The only good VP was right in front of the Total Awards area and consisted of about 30 FP machines (at least the DDB were at all levels). Actually hit a $RF the first night, but gave it all back over the next 2 days. I did lock in Diamond for another year. What appears to be the dedicated VP area is in the smoking section (which I would guess at about 15-20% of the whole casino) and was consistently dirty with poor pay schedules.

Visited the other CET properties and was really unimpressed. The CET shuttle worked out OK. Since the temp was in the low 30's the whole time with a good wind blowing, we missed out on walking on the boardwalk. Total charge for the 3 nights (taxes, not a resort fee) and air conveinence fee was $80 for the both of us...which is about what I won.

We can now say "Been there, done that...won't be back". There just isn't anything like Vegas.
