harrah's Tunica closing June 2

Sad news for that hurting area. Certainly very few other jobs there...

Reports say, so far, Roadhouse & Horseshoe will remain. This is a closure, not even a buy out, though it is for sale. Wonder if there will be CET properties in other markets closing as well.

Harrah's is by far the largest casino in the area, but I am sure the Horseshoe is far more profitable. Harrah's sits on hundreds of acres (if not more) and the upkeep cost has to be astronomical. It is sad for me because it is the first casino that I ever visited.
I for one am not at all surprised. CET has been systematically screwing its customers by the numbers in an increasing way each year. The video poker pay tables get worse and worse with each passing day. The prices at all of their dining establishments keep rising out of proportion to the inflation rate. The room rates are no longer very competitive in most markets and they have even added resort fees in Vegas. They keep increasing the hold on their machines and the table game rules and poker rakes have gotten worse. The Total Rewards (aka Total Crap) program, which was not all that great to begin with, gets worse every year too. The points needed to qualify for each tier level have become a joke. They are getting way too greedy and people are beginning to notice and going elsewhere. I have been a platinum player for 2 years. I have not received a single usable offer in that entire time. Sure they send "offers" all the time.......For the same deal I can get if I did not even have a card! They have forgot the golden rule of the casino business........Offer the people a REASON to patronize your establishment. Make people think they are at least getting SOME kind of value for their gambling dollar. I personally usually walk out of a CET property feeling like I just got screwed. I do not use them much if at all anymore. I feel for these employees.

The odd thing is they are not taking reservations beginning in June for several weeks and then poof I show up comped again. Very strange.
Bad news. I've always enjoyed their FP $ DDB slant tops and will miss them. Just booked a trip for the end of April, but staying at the Shoe (and Sams for a double book).
I've been impressed by Harrahs offers so far this year and have taken advantage of 3 of them.

I agree with Madden 1390 100%!
Why didnt they close when the big flood happened????????? collect the insurance, take the money and run, I swear it is all egg-heads with out any common sense running the casinos now! .....What you went to Yale and have never stepped foot in a casino, we will hire you over anybody with 20 years experience!!!!
Since they announced, I have received 27 pieces of direct mail with offers for Harrahs' Tunica...all of them ending May 31st. Even got 2 letters explaining why they are closing it. I'll be down in Tunica this weekend and will take advantage of 8 free buffets, 10X points and a total of $300 in FP...and I will also do some winning on their $ FP DDB slant top machines!
Usually stay at Sams, but I'm also comped at Horseshoe, so I can check out its rooms.
