Harrahs Valley River Removing Drinks...

Took advantage of comped room with a 1 night road trip to Harrahs Valley River in Murphy NC.

My first visit I was disappointed in the layout and the crowds, however this being a Thursday, the weekend crowds had not arrived yet and they have since added more tables and slots. I had fun, didnt win, but had fun.

Most interesting was the way they handled the drink service. It was not a dry casino, but the drinks were not free. ($4 for a well mixed drink, $3-$5 for a beer). They announced "last call" at 2 am. I purchased my last drink (the bartender even offered a heavy pour since she was about to shut down). Around 2:20, I'm preparing to belly up to a table and a security officer asked for my drink. He told me they have to remove all drinks from the casino floor by 2:30 am. At first I thought maybe it was just me and my buzz, but no, he was throwing away half full drinks from pissed patrons till 2:30.

One of the strangest rules Ive seen.

That place ought to really take off...
States have different liquor laws. CA forbids comping of adult beverages. Years ago, a bartender told me management can comp drinks in AZ, but bartender's can not. Then around 2 years ago, something changed. Ak Chin now gives comped drink tickets to diamond and 7*, $7 value, 4 per day for diamond. You can now use reward credits to pay for drinks and take drinks out of the diamond lounge. Bars close 2 am and they start collecting all beverages before then.
